He's already a good SL player, more like a few seasons off being a very good SL player if he keeps it up.

I don't argue that he's a bad player I thought he was very good for us and would have liked him to stay. However as a cover for roby? He's not a hooker at all but will be a great loose forward. Reading the saints/ Salford board a lot of Salford fans didn't rate him but he did seem to play just at hooker for them.

a few weeks ago i mentioned on here when to put it lightly i was putting up replacements for our hero richie mathers i mentioned lee gaskell and was hit by a barage from all sides that he sighned a new contract at saints come on shifty explaine im all confused

I don't understand how he would be a replacement for Mathers as he is a half back or centre not a full back, unless u want to put him to half back, Sykes to centre and smith to full back? Or Sykes to fullback? Gaskell is also out of contract this summer.

unlike me you obviously havent seen lee gaskells carea from acadamy to first team most of his games have been half back or full back hence my nomination for fullback could be wrong but centre must have been a rarity

LOL no you weren't hit by a barrage from all sides when you mentioned Gaskell, I was the only one that directly replied to you bringing said player up and gave my opinion which was, , I got the info off the the Saints board as there was a ongoing topic on about him and they were hoping for big things off Gaskill this year under Brown, some won't be happy.

Like I said at the time as well, if you're after a player who has great defense imo Gaskell isn't that guy and if he were to sign for us I'd play him at stand off.

Like I said I really liked him when he played SO for Saints & I'd have him here in a heartbeat but with finances to consider and the lad going out on Loan to a team with a bit of spare cash, it isn't gonna happen.

Your right I haven't seen Lee Gaskells academy games I have seen him in the saints first team where he played mostly at half back and a few at centre, as I said he's a good player and had a pretty good kicking game from what I saw, that said depending on how he plays he will probably sign on with Salford or go to another so team but I doubt that would be us.

If i recall he captained Wigan's valvoline grand final winning side. Was suprised Wigan let him go, although he was never going to get in over o'cocklan at loose forward. Will hopefully fill out his massive potential at 13 or even 9.

Does this mean that the powers that be at Salford do not rate Sneyd ( sp ), if so I would love to see him at Wakey. Watch Sneyd carry the Salford under 18`s then their 20`s , he has always looked very good when given his chance him the first team. Remember a few seasons ago when he ran us ragged at Salford in the last game of the season when Kear choose to play Latu and Gleeson, who were both leaving us, instead of given youngsters a chance, Anakin and Walshaw should have played that day.

i dont get bored at all its a subject i feel strongly about, if you want to know what bores me its the same lot who come on here and try and belittle folk if they dont agree with their opinion .tell you what another thing i feel strongly about its these same folk with most of their post are pretty limited in my opinion on their rugby knowledge

On the Gaskill subject, I'd take him for stand off. I wouldn't replace Mathers with him.

On Howarth, I always thought he was good. I think he is just a bit light weight but certainly has skills, a good brain and works hard. Hope Sts keep him.

He looked solid today for Saints, did the basics well and generally got a quick accurate pass out from acting half back. He'll look to express himself more as he gets more comfortable with his surroundings.

Did well today in his debut, after just one training session with Saints.

Sneyd has been playing at fullback for us and playing exceptionally well. Our best player this season by a long way. Ill be very suprised if he's not offered a very good contract when the new coach is appointed.
