Has anyone else heard this ? Rumour going round at Quins match that Ellis has had a fall out with Wests and is coming home. He has broke his hand and is out for several weeks but then is signing for us until the end of the season then for the Dulls for next.
Cant see it myself...anyone know anything else ?'"
1. No he hasn't fallen out with Wests
2. No he isn't out for several weeks, he broke his thumb the other week and is back now, picking up 2 club MoM awards the last 2 weeks.
3. He's said his next contract will be another with Wests or with the club he supported as a kid...Cas.
He's already rejected Bradford and Wigan twice and would never play for either.
Worst rumour ever.

Although things are not going too well for Wests, he seems to be playing particually well.

| Think we better keep dreaming if we think he's coming home? Even back in super league it would be unlikely to be at Wakey?? Although i do think he will come back for his retirement season.

The same Gareth Ellis who stated after the Cas game in 2004 (Wakey won 42-10) when collecting the Sky MoM award how 'sweet' it was to beat Cas!

By and large, players say what the fans want to hear at the time. It's what they do!
He'd be a fool to leave the NRL to come back to us.

Not disputing that, just the 'fact' that if Gareth comes back from NRL it will be to play for Cas!

| If Gareth was coming back to England why on earth would he be signing for us or Bradford? Given that he is 1 of the very few world class English players I can only see him at Saints or Leeds. Now with a few more years on the clock he may fancy captaining Wakey, then when he gets really past it retirement at cas.

That is because Stuart Raper said he would never make it as an RL player when he was 16, which is why he said it was sweet.
It's also coincidently why he rejected Wigan the first time they offered for him (because Raper was the coach at the time).
The only way he would play for Wakefield again is if they broke the bank to sign him.

He is indeed enjoying his time over there, he loves the lifestyle and how the Rugby is played. He is just missing his family a bit, which could be where this rumour came from.

| no truth in the rumour at all, gareth and his girlfriend had a personal problem when they first arrived in australia but that is now behind them and they are both happy building a new life in australia.
for the record gareths family are castleford fans and go to most home games and yes it has been a childhood dream of his to play for castleford, whether that ever happens is anyones guess but if i was castleford id be breaking the bank to bring him to castleford when his wests deal is up.

Both you and Gaslight pushing your normal halfbaked truth. Like most players Ellis doesn't really support any team, even as a child he didn't go and watch Cas and I doubt it was ever his dream - more like your wet dream - says it all really. He grew up in Selby by the way which isn't part of the peoples republic of Castleford.
Players end up in club Academies for all kinds of reasons, home town alliegence usually plays no part - not in the real world anyway.
He hasn't broken his anything and according to LE had a good game v the Dragons. Ellis is not the sort to throw the towel in IMHO and will see out his contract.
If he does return to the UK it will be to the club who offers him the deal he wants - that could be anyone.

Shows how much you know doesn't it? he played and lived in Cas until he was a teenager and was a Cas season ticket holder right up until he signed for Wakefield.
In fact, this shows how much a Cas fan he was back then: the game v St Helens in the playoffs he was stood with the Cas fans & joined in with the 20 minute barmy army chant.
He signed for Wakefield because Stuart Raper said he would never make it as a professional player - so Cas didn't even take an interest in him.
TRB knows how I know all this, so I don't need to explain my self to vastypants or anyone like that.
Braytontiger also seems to know the same things about him as I do so I'll have to ask him about it because I might in fact know him too
But there again, I wouldn't expect you to believe anything, but that doesn't bother me at all.
