Good for you. Hopefully more will join the above groups if they are promoted enough.
As said on previous post Conservatives have got no chance of getting into power at Wakefield council. As for the next Government they'll all say anything to get votes like Cameron saying he was a West Ham fan when infact he supposedly supports Aston Villa.

| Most people i've spoken to who aren't regular wakey fans couldn't care less about the stadium fiasco one way or another. In fact most couldn't give a damn about the election period. Quite sad really.
Myself i would never vote for any particular party based on a single issue, whatever it was. The stadium being just one element. It all goes into the pot and the best of a bad bunch chosen from that. And then watch as nothing changes whoever it is that gets in.

I would generally agree with you on this.
However IF (and it's a massive if), one of the political parties were able to guarantee a new stadium (or massively improved BV), I would definitely vote for them.
Any other wrongs that they were responsible for could be rectified after the next election, but, the stadium would be worth any other pain.
Having said that, I don't think any of the current options are in any position to guarantee the stadium.
Although the current rulers of the district appear to have done all that they can for the stadium not to be built

I guess the problem we have is how local elections work. Labour will still be in control come the the 8th may and Box will still be leader, no matter how we vote. There just isn't enough councillors up for election to oust them and most people will still vote for them anyway. Personally i think the only chance we have is if a Labour government with a healthy front bench presence of local MP's can exert enough pressure on the council to move things forward. I just can't see the tories going against business in a case like this, it just isn't their way despite the rhetoric they are no doubt coming out with. The old saying 'How do you know when a conservative is lying? Their lips are moving' still rings true to this day. It's only my personal opinion and others may think de=ifferently but i think the only way the stadium will ever get built is by the council pressurising Yorkcourt in to doing so by refusing any further development on that land that doesn't comply to the original planning decision. To get this co-operation from our great leaders they will need leaning on from above from Creagh, Balls & Trickett who will likely have a good amount of government influence.

Agree with all that, it's just a case of whether the bigger players in Westminster can or will put pressure on Mr Box & Co to play ball.
Yorkcourt must be sitting back laughing at just how they have managed to get so much for so little and at just how easily they have managed to get away with things so easily.

Same here TRB,been a pit man (and still am)until this year some time that is thanks to Tory AND Labour's support I have been Labour all my working life but I'm afraid having met Cooper and listening to her patronising voice ,who ever could deliver a community stadium for this great City may get my vote. They are all as thick as thieves so it's a tough decision

| Based on the positive sounds coming from the local conservatives, for the first time ever I'm gonna vote for them locally (although 100% not in the nationals)
Probably just another set of politicians full of mickey and wind but they may surprise us yet.

| The sad thing is at local level people still vote for the party rather than the person. You only have to look at Ossett last year the UKIP guy that got in didn't even run a campaign and got in.

It's just a cr@p situation.
There ought to be a better way of making sure that the people currently in charge (Box & Co) actually dealt with the matter properly, instead of constantly passing the buck and denying any responsibility.
I suppose that if they do lose some votes and that we have a change, they may get the message but, it would be far better for our public servants to do their job and serve the local community properly.

Think most people actually use the local elections as a protest vote against whichever party is running the country. Wakefield MDC Labour group got down to within 1 seat of losing their majority when Gordon Brown was running the country. Once the Conservatives got in the local Labour group were safe again

| Perversely having more conservative/ukip/lib dem councillors could actually end up being counter productive. Whilst ever the labour council has a majority, which they will have whatever the results next week, Box will always go against anything proposed by a councillor from an opposition party, it's just his way. He almost sees it as an insult to himself and it steels his resolve further. He does though usually at least take on board comments from his own party and whilst he may argue he knows for the sake of getting re-elected as leader he cannot be too dismissive. What it needs is members of his own Labour party, as groups if necessary, to stand up to him and fight for what they want. The problem is Box is naturally a bully boy and few seem to want that but it would be the best cause of action if it could be achieved. Whether that can be i'm not sure but when the labour councillors come knocking tell them it's time to stand up to their leader. This alongside a locally influenced Labour government leaning on them is highly likely to be the only hope of ever getting the ground built without the need for costly legal action which sadly will probably still result in no guarantee of the ground ever materialising whether it is successful or not.

Which is why we cannot cut off ties with anyone. The door is open to all parties and especially to the controlling Labour group, but we want them to listen to us and not just tell us their versions and expect us to roll over and let them tickle our tummies!
