What Tuesday announcement is this?

Got told there is a stadium meeting on Tuesday, don't know how important it is or if an announcement will be made straight after.

There is a meeting, but there a lot of these, mostly that go un-noticed.

I amagine there has been a lot of interesting meetings as well. Question is will it be one that brings positive news as there doesn't seem to have been too many of them.

Seems the council are pushing the boat out to try get planning for more warehousing in the area. Not at newmarket though about 9 or 10 miles up the road.

Does that P*** on Yorkcourts bonfire and make any development at Newmarket less likely? or is there a requirement for warehousing in both areas?

Why couldn't they just push for it on a nearby site that already has planning permission! Something stinks again!

Maybe it's because there's a need to create new jobs' in the surrounding area.

Ground improvements already started at the famous Belle Vue, they had scanners to scan my season ticket card instead of the notepad and tally method.

A decision on the Five Towns & new Castleford Stadium development has been deferred until after the General Election in May by the Secretary of States office.

What's the "Five Towns" all about ?

Five Towns is the collective term for the wider area of Wakefield hence the name
'Wakefield & Five Towns'

The Five in question are: Normanton, Pontefract, Featherstone, Castleford and Knottingley

So what news from last nights meeting?

So in the case of the stadium, it's not Wakefield & Five Towns then.

Or am I reading too much into it.

Looks like the ever hopeful Cas fans are getting a little bit of our treatment, although maybe not as bad just yet.


This delay makes it even more important for us to get some agreement made ASAP in my opinion. Obviously it is a little out of our control, but if the Club, the Stadium Trust, TRB, IA and others get some positives out of the next meetings with Yorkcourt we could see ourselves edge back ahead.

If Labour get in at the next election then the cas project will sale through. Balls and Cooper will be big players in the government and will ensure its path is smooth.

Does anyone else think the promises of stadia to Wakefield & Castleford,are just vote catchers?

Not really you could put 2 chimps up as Labour candidates, and they'd still get in, therein lies the problem.
Please note this is not an add on behalf of the Conservative party.

Also, we've had a labour council for as long as I can remember and it certainly hasn't helped our progress.

One thing that is of concern, is that would the Wakefield ground ever be allowed to happen before the Cas ground ?
The situation has been like cat and mouse ever since the RFL originally "insisted" on certain criteria to allow entry into SL.

Politically, it could lose votes if either ground happened before the other, especially if there wad deemed to be political favour
for either Cas or Wakefield and it is unfortunate that Mr Box, Ed Balls and Ms Cooper are all regular guests at Wheldon Road.

This certainly gives Cas perceived favour and only time will tell whether there is anything more than this.

It still remains baffling that the Newmarket site took so long to be approved and yet, Newcold has been allowed "next door" without
any problem ??

There was a Trust meeting this morning. A full and frank discussion following which a plan has been agreed for which we hope to be able to make some announcement in 3 weeks time.
