In all honesty in hindsight maybe the signs were there? Dreadfully unlucky with injuries/COVID last season left us without our first choice side for the entire season pretty much but on the back of that we moved 9 players on (10 if you include Naverette’s loan ending) and signed 2. We now find ourselves in a very similar position, missing some key players and struggling on the field.

Talk of Andrew Fifita whilst exciting at the time, is laughable looking back. The sort of money we will have been paying for him, could surely be used elsewhere?

Effort can not be in question so you then ask how many would get a game at another club.
Wake Leigh Salford don't seem in any recruitment rush for next season and in our case unless not released we haven't re signed any of the off contract players.

1. J.Miller - 1-2 weeks.
2. J.Wood - 4 months (probably season)
3. TJ - another 4 weeks but possibly longer.
4. J.Croft - Season ACL.
5. R. Hampshire - 3-4 weeks Jaw.
6. A.Walker - unknown back injury.
7. D.Fifita - cracked rib prob 4 weeks minimum.
8. K.Wood - unknown.
9. J.Crowther - foot injury / unknown.
10. B.Tupou - 1 week (leg I think).

Think that’s most or all of them....

You are spot on At least 6 of them would be in the 17 every week .Though we were very unlucky last night .But as the new coaching staff got here to late they have made a big difference to the defence,hard to judge if the attack as to many key players missing

And all I read about in my paper this morning was Leeds injuries!!! Fed up of all these CC critics. Yes we are all disappointed but give it a rest.

Although a few mistakes at crucial times cost us the win last night, the 17 players gave all that they had.
Some of the efforts, from Westerman and Arona in particular, were immense.
The young lads at FB and Hooker went pretty well too.

Until we can get over the line and win a game, the pressure on everyone continues to build.

Use Alex Walker’s wage on him. Saying that we go on about Chester’s feelings but think of the players he’s messed about over the years.

One thing is for sure whoever is in charge next year they have to be recruiting now or if left will be asked to have players they haven't been party to recruiting.

From an outside view i would say that lockdown has certainly affected you. If you excuse the wording, Belle Vue is a tacky little ground but the home fans make it a hostile cauldron for the away team and after seeing us get pumped there often enough i would say the Wakey side definitely gets a lift from the home crowd. We (Wigan) have probably played differently too as we as fans generally get on the players' backs as there is an expectancy to perform week in week out. What i will say though is that concurring to some of the comments on here. Chester did look a broken man last night and i am pretty sure he knows he is under pressure. People in rugby league aren't generally well paid and the man has to think of his family. He isn't going to just walk away from a contract and as fed up as you are i would say stick with him until you can get a good crowd back in. The Wakey fans really are the 18th man and you need to play your part too.

I've seen this a few times from opposition fans and players. Belle Vue has never struck me as a hostile ground. Antiquated with little of modern life's 'luxury' yes, an intimidating ground, no. It's hardly the Ali Sami Yen.

Regarding the fans at Belle Vue being hostile, when reading Keith Seniors autobiography he referred to playing at Wakefield as the cauldron of hate.

Chester needs to be backed up with money. Like the money he used to sign Brough, Atkins, and MCB for a second time (and didn’t use him). Mitch Allgood another waste of money. More recently Alex Walker. Signing Tangata permanently in off season then paying him off.

I said in a previous post that our pivots were rubbish and general play certainly in the second half was garbage some Leeds fans are saying an half decent side should have rattled 40 past us that’s how bad we were,Leeds are poor and we are notch worse

No one can deny the effort that is on show is off the scale ,but our skill set is well below par of where it should be even before the injuries set in . Our defensive structures have certainly got better even with the chopping and changing to the team , so why is our attack so poor and has been for a long time . I remember this same conversation a few seasons ago in the friendly’s and was told we were keeping our powder dry as to attacking structures . I think two seasons is long enough to keep them under wraps ,and could we please see them implement ASAP .

I think that it needs a bit of realism here. Our 'pivots' consisted of one regular (Mason), we had one hooker on loan (been with us 2 weeks), the other hooker is a backrower and went off early in the game, our other half is really a fullback and our fullback has only been training with us for a couple of weeks. Oh and I'm forgetting that our only regular hooker pulled out of the game the day prior to the match.

That does not apply to our many other similar performances since the start of last season.

Yes it does. You should check the starting pivots for the previous games and the injuries during games to our pivots then you will see it very much applies. We haven’t had our starting Spine together once this season yet.

I believe we have had in 6 games:

4 x different full backs
5 x different halfback combinations
4 x different hooker combinations

We have had the most disruption out of all superleague clubs. It’s always going to be a challenge to be a free scoring team in that scenario.

Regardless of the challenges though we must pick up at least 2 wins from the next 3 including beating Leigh.
