Agree we did miss the go forward of Dave when he went off. Bit unfair on Pauli, he hasn't in all the previous games come across as feet for hands kind of guy and as an Aussie coming over here to play in alien conditions, it's going to take games for him to hit top form imo. Anyway onwards and upwards.. I'll have to have a better watch of the game when it comes on Trinity TV.

Similar to last years home game with Hull. Better to get these type of games or "performances" out of the system now whilst the season is young.

He's having a similar effect when he comes on to last year with Miller when we were playing Finn and Williams in the halves. He really does makes an impact.

Funny you should mention that I said exactly the same at the game, exactly the same freezing cold damp conditions as our first home game last season.

ATEOTD like you say it's better to get average performances out of the system at this time of year and gradually peak towards the end. It's what teams like Leeds and Wigan have been doing for years.

Can't understand the game management, 14-8 up in front of the Salford posts and we don't drop a goal . Instead we opt for a 50/50 kick to the corner!! A win is a win so on to Catalan.

Fair enough he scores plenty of classy tries, but there is no hiding place these days for a player who's defensive reads and positions are weak. All the great wingers have been able to defend well when needed.

The concern is coached of other teams could watch the video of this game and exploit that, if we don't fix it

Ball control and completion not good enough and cheap turnovers from not playing the ball are schoolboy stuff.
Mind you, rather an ugly win than play well and lose.

We are top of the league, we are top of the league, it wont be for long with Wigan playing Hull in the morning but, 100% is as good as it can be.

No doubt Tj, when he came up had some defensive issues like all young wingers tend to have and we had threads on the subject on here. But as he's shown as he's got more experience, that part of his game has massively improved. No doubt he wasn't at his best defensively or positionally today and got caught out but imo I wouldn't think a Coach would pick him out in particular because of this game.

Our execution with the ball is still a bit off and we need to cut out the daft penalties but the first bit should come with game time and better conditions and the second will have to improve if we want to beat the top teams.

Don’t get the questioning of TJ defence as BJB got caught too far in for evalds try. In addition, the players inside allowing Salford’s playmakers to run across the line untouched was also a factor albeit not for the Welham try

Don’t like singling out players but after last weeks performance and this weeks performance, I would rather of had Kirmond out for the next game. Penalties and errors put us under pressure, he is definitely not a loose forward.

take the 2, learn from it and sweep it under the carpet, but blimey...all those penalties killed our game, just like last week.

Another example of switching off in the middle part of the game - and too many penalties; although as is Mr Child's wont, some of them were a bit baffling - particularly the one near the end for Big Dave not playing the ball correctly; watch it back - he played it exactly the same way as most players do, in most matches.

Hey ho - not the best to watch, but it had some grit; and Miller's try was a peach. The table will say 2 from 2 - that's all that matters.

Those are the kind of games we need to be taking the 2 points from if we are to make the top 4.

Two points is two points. Not a great game so glad to come away with the win after some poor defensive efforts for each of their tries.

Thought both matches we've been far too reliant on the left side for in attack. Only after Hampshire came on did we go right side. Liking the look of Hampshire a lot, we look a lot better when he's on the field. We were very flat before his arrival

It was an old school game on a cold, dark night. You can forgive big Aussie forwards on nights like that. We looked the more competent side for a lot of it. We just didn't kill the game off enough, which gave them a sniff and so kept them going.

I admired the confidence not to go for the repeated two-pointers in the first half, but a more confident side perhaps would have kept the scoreboard ticking. It was almost as if we thought we won't win unless we get 18 points ahead.

Happy enough though. We looked good for a lot of the game and we ground out a win. That's what good sides do.

I enjoyed it, apart from the tenseness. I don't mind a bit of old school, and the outcome was never certain.

A close tough game, which Chezzer & the boys will have taken a lot more from than last weeks. As stated previously that last pen against Fafita was a sickener as it had been going on all game.

Leeds were no way near being the best team last year but they found a way to win close games. We all know how close we came in several games last year which with a different result would have seen us top 2.

We got 2 competition points last night & everyone knows we can & must improve, but credit to a tough Salford outfit. I think some people were just expecting them to rollover for us. Judging by results so far this weekend it looks like a few teams went into last week not fully prepared with a few poor performances being shown.

We are 100% so far & the lads have shown plenty of commitment albeit with room for improvement. Let's just take what we have so far eh?

I think when the tracks dry up you'll see trinity at their best. Absolutely monsterous pack, a good bench who will all add something. Fliers on each flank with 2 half backs that compliment each other well. I genuinely think you can top the table as long as you avoid a huge injury list.

It would be interesting to see your list of great wingers who have been able to defend well when needed to, instead of blaming the winger maybe you should look for the reason as to why he's been left out of position from other players defensive misreads, just saying like.

Child in harsh treatment of Trinity shocker



We should probably put a big "X" on the calendar, as we haven't won too many games with that clown in charge.
We were pinged for a number of "head high" tackles and yet the one on Johnstone, right in front of the touch judge got nothing.
Child is a buffoon, and does seem to have some kind of grievance against Trinity .

Indeed, the three inside Johnstone grouped together leaving him defending the centre position otherwise there would've been a huge gap on the inside.

Tough game, we ended up playing at Salford’s pace instead of dictating the game... for me we need to create more chances and find a way to unleash TJ more... I’d be looking to bring Arundel in.
