S.B why is it that you attack my post and called it 'petty' and when another poster posts the same you approach the topic in a different manner?

Anyway, perhaps it may of seemed a harsh initial post and a personal attack on Tronc, i am very disappointed at him. He may well be a little home sick, but it as many a poster has said, it seems a very good reason to be released from his contract and return home to play in the NRL (for his dream club) I can not say I blame him for wanting a return to the NRL with the Bronco's, as I think Brisbane are very much the Real Madrid of rugby league, so the attraction would be there to any rugby league player. However, if he was deemed a piece in there jigsaw they would of made salary cap arrangements when it was announced he was leaving the NQC- and I stand by that.

I just feel he is been used as a quick fix solution to an injury crisis, very much like Wigan did with Wilkes and Jordan James in 2006?- in my opinion, when players return to fitness he will be a squad player playing rarely. This in itself is a major issue for me, because he is such a key player for our team to just a squad player. This coupled with the losses of Brough and Newton may well turn the season. Ultimately this is lowest I have felt regarding Trinity for a long time.

what a load of rubbish the guy has actually said he has no gripes with wakefield. i am pretty sure they will be looking for a replacement for him with all the money you refer to but in my opinion the sooner he gets his butt on the plane the better and let the players that want to play for wakey play.

It's hard to criticise the club here, because it's a stark choice: retain an expensive player (I presume he isn't cheap) who doesn't want to be here, or let him go. If the club takes the view that it is better to cut your losses, then fine, because seing Tronc going through the motions with his bottom lip out all year is an expensive way to stick to your principles. On the other hand, you can accept that it hasn't worked out and let him go, compensation or no compensation. If you hold out for compensation and don't get it, you are stuck paying his wages and probably getting less and less value for your money each week.

Maybe they'll replace him, maybe they won't, but I presume that will be down to who is available. No point in spending the money just because it's there, because I imagine running Wakey's finances is like spinning plates, and I guess no one gets involved with Wakefield to make money.

It would seem to be irrelevant, but if we were to hold him to a contract and he played with his lip out, he is only diminishing his own value. I agree though that it isn't the preferred option. However, as the link to the aussie forum suggests, he's still performed well despite the homesickness. Yes that form may have dropped off now, but that has been since his head has been turned.

I really don't think we should release without getting something in return though. The homesickness may be an issue, but would he be so concerned about it if the chance with the Broncos hadn't turned up? If that had been the case, you could keep playing him and release him if his form dropped so badly. Chances are though, his itch has been scratched by Brisbane, and as a wealthy club I don't think it would be too difficult to play a little harder with them and get something in return. I'm sure his agent would work at that just as much as he's worked on us to get a release (assuming the comments on their forum are correct).

tronc is upset at the profesionalsim at the club or lack of it. which is not hard to understand we dont exactly have the best set up ever im sure all the players talking about going to quest after a friday match is not what he is used to in queensland.

I think it is exactly what people want it to be - i.e. if Tronc wanted it to work - he could have made it. Surely the idea is to bring your own standards to the club - that is why you try and bring the best players in, isn't it?

He is doing a job same as anyone else on this forum. The fact that we all enjoy watching him do it and are then disappointed when he doesn't, is of no relevence to him (though many players take pride in that).
He has decided for his own reasons that it is not the job for him. He hasn't taken money under false pretenses. He has been one of our best players this year.
You have no right (in my opinion) to make the email personal.

If you'd have said your opinions without making it personal towards him, then I wouldn't have even commented on the post. I am disappointed myself so would in some way agree with you, but the reasons why are nothing to do with us.

Well without wanting to get stuck into an arguement with you also. We'l agree to disagree, I have read the post again I can see why you have got your back up- however, the points remain the same sir. I do feel that it is kind of relevent that he has become home sick within the last two weeks, the same two weeks where the interest is shown from brisbane!- THEREFORE, I am angry with the way he has conducted himself, if he said 'at 28 there is not a better opportunity for me to join them' i would of been disappointed but not angry. Today, my mate told me that he served a young Kiwi/Ozzie lad, who claimed he was over for a trial with Wakey?- I don't know if this bull from the guy he served but I was just wondering whether anyone knows anything else about this? My mate works at a well known sports shop on the retail park, and the guy was wanting some footy boots- It just seems abit strange that a lad trailing for a superleague team would have no boots!

Going on what is being alluded to on here, a better rumour would be Ted had Tronc and his family living in the new bottle bar cabin, after originally promising him Heath Hall.

More likely Ted has had him kipping on the floor of the Red Shed which he didin't mind until the fat man came back from Germany and moved in with him...

You are spot on there...if a player is honest and wants to go, so be it.

If it is a case of broken promises, makes you wonder what he told him. Its also a pity we can't rectify the situation and do what we said we would do and then presumeably he would stay.
