If you look at the list t-r-i-n-i-t-y gave then you won't be far out. March was a good club man, a legend never, none of the modern day players could be classed as a legend. Cult Heroes maybe, but no where near a legend.

In fairness, turning down Bradford (allegedly) and just being at one club for over 10 years isn't compelling evidence to make someone a legend. I've only been watching since 1990 but I imagine he wouldn't get into a All Time Trinity XIII or even a Second XIII.
No knock-on March, a solid player at times, but nothing at all special.

Just think he is one of the players that comes close IMO. Can't think of any player I have seen play for Wakey that I class as a legend.
Just the way Vasty put it. He often thinks what he says you have to agree with

And neither really can I. Price could have been, but didn't stay. He certainly had the ability when he broke into the first team (and should have done a lot better than leaving us for Fev), Wright, same again, but injuries ruined him.
David March doesn't come close to either of them for ability or performances for Wakefield.
Until we go on and win something to make us proud (and avoiding relegation is not soemthing to celebrate or be proud of) and get us back to where that great team did from 1958-1969 then I don't see how anyone could displace those true legends of this club.
I'm sorry to bang on about it, but the word 'legend' is tarnished when used to describe good players, and sometimes not even that, when there are men who built this club, put it in the record books forever who are easily forgotten.
Like I said, I only started watching in 1990, but can read books, look at video, speak to people who saw these men in their primes to find out more the club than what I've seen in front of me!

| The only player from the last 30 years who would qualify for me is Dave Topliss. Played for Trinity for most of his playing cereer, represented his country at international level, and although the team didn't win any silverware whilst he was a player, we did get to a final, and he did win the Lance Todd trophy. He was also a successful coach for us (and GB U21s, IIRC). Toppo the last "legend" for me, and probably a long wait for the next one.

Adam get over yourself - very churlish outburst.
For anyone to claim David March as a legend for me is wrong, it degrades those who actually were and in our case nearly all came from the team of the 1960's. And before you start I spent the best part of two weeks putting Daves testimonial - why? Because I liked him as a player and he was loyal in the sense that he always gave his best. But a legend, not in this lifetime.
As for the Bradford thing, is that remotely relevent?., How would you know I doubt even Dave remembers it was so long ago.
Wally Lewis was a legend and he did it in 10 games! The reason was simple, he was just bl**dy awesome. You seriously comparing those two?
I know it's all about opinions but I say again, come on!

No matter how many times I see it I just can't help myself!
A bit like David Batty claiming Real Madrid were interested in him!
No offence to Marchy I just don't buy it.

Fair enough, believe what you like.
March was a better player than what he was credited for.

How the fook do you expect me to compare March and Lewis? I know your an old timer but I certainly am not.
Not exactly claiming he is a legend but of people claim Korky is one March deserved to be a king. Like I said in previous post, I can’t really think of anyone I have seen wear a Trin shirt who deserves the legend tag……..

| Been fortunate to have seen three undisputable 'legends' in my time watching Wakefield - Neil Fox, David Topliss and (even though it was very brief) Wally Lewis.
To be honest I don't think anyone else has come anywhere near being afforded that accolade, otherwise it just demeans the term and its status.

More a cult figure than a legend. Said it before and I'll say it again, Toppo was the last, and we'll be waiting a long time for the next.

Nigel Bell?
Nigel was burdened with carrying some of the poorest teams ever to where the red, white and blue. By the time Toppo had built a decent(ish) squad Bell was past his best. So he didn't win many medals or caps but h was a great player IMHO. Had he joined a top club and he was a wanted man he may well have been a legend of the game.
It's a tricky one but I think he counts because he was loyal and tough and played for years, but he was also a really good player. A bit of speculation but had he been Wigan born he would IMO have been a legend in a legendary Wigan side, because no team can have too many Nigel Bells - that's how it goes.

| Any player who can play scrum half, hooker and prop as well as Belly did earns my full respect. As you say Vasty his loyalty to Wakefield and the fact he played in so many poor sides when I'm pretty sure he could have signed for better teams makes him a Trinity legend in my eyes.
If people are having Wally Lewis, then I'm having Ray Price. Still the man I've had more respect for than any other player ever to pull on our colours.
