| Even if we do resume and play on 5th April no-one over 70 will be able to attend, they'll all be in week 3 of their isolation.

| Only silver lining is it gives our injured players a chance to get fit assuming the club doesnt go bust in the mean time! Agree we should at least have tried to put this weekends fixtures all on sky behind closed doors 1 thursday 1 friday 2 saturday and 2 sunday

| My take on this is as follows and not being a CEO it’s pure speculation I fully admit.
RL clubs get two forms of funding, TV revenue and fan/commercial.
I’m guessing the TV money is safe for now especially if games eventually go ahead even behind closed doors. TV money is the golden egg in RL and provides the lions share of the cash.
The fan/commercial is more tricky.
Season tickets are paid in advance so assuming only a small number want a refund that’s safe.
Ditto commercial. I assume a fair percentage of the commercial stuff is paid up for at least the next moth or so. Stuff like shirt sales has almost certainly gone well past it’s peak. So many revenue streams are already paid up. Obviously there is still a fair chunk going begging but in some areas but not all.
The hardest one to gauge is fans paying on the day and what they spend. This is where we will lose out but you don’t need to be a Dragon to realise that it’s not a massively profitable part of the business with just a few games offering any real return.
When playing the likes of Toronto, Salford and Hudds we probably come close to losing money on these games. When you take the cost of staging a game into account I’m guessing we need to hit 4.5k before we make money. Financially these games are not a huge loss.
On the flip side Cas and Leeds are big losses because again I’m guessing that every £22 we get once over 4.5k is mainly profit.
Truth is if I’m correct our future depends on the following.
1. How many profit games we lose.
2. How long the ban lasts, obviously.
3. That we are as financially sound as hoped and thus gain the support of the banks and retain a minimum cash flow. We will also need the support of fans, businesses and the RFL to do this.
4. A good attitude from the players. By this I mean they play for they exist on the minimum. I don’t mean they take huge pay cuts, we all have to live but any bonuses etc are put on hold. The players need to note that technically there jobs are now redundant and in effect so are they all be it temporary fingers crossed.
Some staff will simply have to be laid off but some are probably contractors and others like matchday staff are temps anyway. It brutal but it’s a tough time.
In the long term if the virus isn’t stopped we are all stuffed and the last thing anyone will care about is RL. We all need to do our bit.
I’m lucky I’m not skint and my job is safe. I am willing to contribute an initial £100 to any fund to help the club.
I suggest those like me let it be known on here or other sites if they are willing to do the same.
It may only help a bit but MC needs to know what options he has sooner rather than later.
Finally I fully accept some of what I say may be utterly wrong but this is a forum for ideas.
It’s grim no doubt but manageable in the short to medium.

| It's not a case of withholding bonuses for me. If they earn them they get them. You are talking about real people's lives here.
We should be looking to support the club however we can.
I think MC said cancelling a game on average costs him £60k.

I don't see why you chose to do this regarding my post it makes you look desperate. I clearly mean bonuses they can no longer earn as they are no longer playing! Would you expect your employer to pay you the overtime you might have got normally or the profit share you may have received if there is no longer any overtime or any profits? I assume even you wouldn't expect that. I have no wish to deny anybody monies they are entitled too.

| Bonuses are not always perfromance related, they can be agreed contractual payments, that's why bankers and directors of loss making companies still get 'bonuses'
If it's £25 a try then thats a bonus that won't be paid.

But that isn't what you said so it wasn't clear.
As I said, you are throwing around words like redundancy and no bonuses when you have no idea of any details at all.
These are real people. Leave those kind of suggestions alone. It's not helpful and to be honest none of your business.
Talking about the club fine, but leave the individual players pay out of it.

| Challenge cup attendances are on the decline . Would it be possible to play all the games at one ground over the weekend behind closed doors and ask the bbc to televise. Maybe the bbc would be prepared to share the venture with sky or alow sky to televise the event and then for the bbc to show highlights.
It might buy a little time and reduce re scheduling.

Good idea but it would be contrary to Govt advice given the numbers of people from all the clubs combined would bring to ether. Also the suspension reason was in the small print, the Govt effectively shut sport down by with drawing emergency services support (the small print included doctors who are required at games and also physios). Thats how I have read briefs.

| I'd love to hear the thoughts of the players on playing bearing in mind the physicality of the game being in close contact with each other or would they use the government's guideline of 2 meters away

| All major codes - NRL ,AFL and football - still playing over here at moment because they know if they stop the TV money is gone and that will spell end for most clubs (:as I fear in England it will to>?)" all be it with no crowds in the stands
NRL round 2 starts tonight ,AFL round 1 as well - they have also said they will play all the way through to Christmas if they have to get the season in - EVEN STATE OF ORIGIN IN NOVEMBER - do we think super league will do the same?
For all your football lovers you can watch our A league which is coming up to finals its quality stuff ha ha - lets go Western Sydney wanderers - who is your team for a bit if fun - god knows we need it NO SPORT IS SO BORING - do they show this on tele over there ? its ratings would go through the roof at the moment

| football now suspended to April 30 how long before super league does the same...
if we get back by april 30 we may still be a chance to play the season out - we can play to around November couldn't we?and still play every game
watching the nrl last night over here it was so weird without fans but it actually was very entertaining you could hear everything the players and refs said .

| Just a pity we couldnt last one more week behind closed doors the extra exposure on sky and news channels would have done our sport a big boost which it needs if this crisis continues which it will for at least 10-12 weeks

AN UPDATE FOLLOWING TUESDAY'S SUPER LEAGUE BOARD MEETING
The Betfred Super League clubs held a Board meeting via conference call today, attended in part by senior officials of the Rugby Football League, for further discussion of how to respond to the current public health crisis.
After the meeting, Robert Elstone (Super League Executive Chairman) and Ralph Rimmer (RFL Chief Executive) issued the following joint statement.
“With the country having taken such unprecedented measures, the primary focus and priority for all has to be the public health emergency – an approach that is equally applicable for our overseas clubs.
"Rugby League clubs are deeply embedded in their communities, and we are committed as a sport to following Government advice and doing all we can to promote the importance of physical and mental health – for our supporters, players and colleagues.
"In line with the approach announced by the UK Government last night, we will regularly review the situation regarding the possibility of resuming fixtures – and remain as flexible as possible, in consultation with other partners, and with the key considerations of financial sustainability and player welfare.”
Ralph Rimmer added: "Following today’s meeting of Betfred Super League clubs, we will also be updating other sections of the game with the latest thinking regarding the suspension of the season, as the sensible approach is clearly to continue working on various scenarios while acknowledging the suspension is going to be considerably longer than the three-week period we had initially confirmed.
"The key for the sport is to continue acting in a collegiate, united and positive way.”
Robert Elstone added: "Super League and its Clubs are working round the clock to prepare ourselves for the challenges ahead and to ensure the sport is in the best possible place for when life returns to normal.
"Our priorities are the health of our players and staff and the economic well-being of our clubs.
"We welcome the government's proposals to help businesses, and in partnership with the RFL we are exploring all the options available to us.
"We are also keeping close to all our partners and, in particular, offering all our support to Sky Sports.
"Most of all, we are sticking together and looking out for the health of our families, friends and colleagues.
"Our sport has enviable values that stem from the behaviours and attitudes of all of us.
"These will be essential to emerging strong at some point in the near future.
"On behalf of all Super League clubs, we thank you for your loyalty and continued support."
