What about Garforth Town

I'd be all up for sharing a ground with a football team from the local area, as long as the fixtures wouldn't clash I think it makes great sense!

Garforth Town would be interesting as they have a multi multi multi millionaire backer... and its not that far away...

More than 2 promotions from the Football League...and who is going to watch them at Newmarket? The same people who went to watch Wakefield & Emley at Belle Vue, or Leeds reserves?

Not a chance, Simon Clifford is as mad as a bag of frogs, yes loaded but he is more into collecting Star Wars memorabillia.And yes I do know him and yes I have told him he is puddled. Him and Gazza would have been classic.

It's not Garforth Town, either Ossett club or Wakefield FC thats being mooted, having said that the other one would probably not move from where they are now unless their was a serious chance of them climbing the football pyramid to the dizzying heights of the CoCa CoLa league's.

At least one of their Directors is seriously poked up and it would'nt be beyond him to deliver the finances required to do a Whelan/Wigan-esque climb up the league ladder and having a suitable stadium in which to launch that campeign would be a start.

I am not sure Wakefield FC would be too happy if a team moved to Wakefield but if someone is willing to put money into our club then i would be overjoyed.

To be fair though thats exactly how Wakefield FC came about. They moved to the city from Emley.

Fair point but i seem to remember one of the reasons they moved to Wakefield was because there was no other football team already there.

I think they where gunning for the conference at the time and the Emley ground wasn't up to scratch. If they'd have gone up we would have had access to some grants from the FA to improve Belle Vue.

Alas they fell at the last hurdle, I went to a few matches and I think they got over 5 thousand in for one clash. After that the crowds died down to about 100.

knowing very little about the Wakefield F.C story, would this not be seen as a boost, presuming that the name of Wakefield F.C would remain? and that they would be both improved on and off the field + playing in a new stadium?
i would have thought it would be the supporters of A.N.Other F.C who would have something to moan about.

I went to one against Harrogate Railway at belle vue on a Wednesday night and the attendence was announced as 12, it was a rearranged game and it was snowing.

Nice! I didn't know it got that bad. I just did a quick google and in 2001 there first season at Belle Vue they where 1 point off promotion to the conference.

With regards to the new Wakefield FC I have no idea what league they play in so it might not be worth there while moving. However if they play Halifax Town or FC United then they could switch the fixture to Newmarket as those teams travel very well.
