I said to my mate today that this is the first time I can remember walking away thinking I was glad the season has finished.


Having said all that, in about a months time I will be missing it and looking forward to next season. Call me an idiot if you like but I have got my season ticket for next year and I will be there supporting whatever team we put out on the park. I am a Wakefield Trinity fan/supporter and will be while ever there is a club to support.

I know this season has been hard work but with another pre-season behind them players like Gledhill, Trout, Davey, Morton, Wildie will all be better players next year. We do need a few signings in my opinion (and I'm not altogether inspired by the names I've heard so far) but our SL survival has always been based on spirit rather than class. These are local lads that want to wear the shirt and hopefully can bring that spirit back.

This season has been by far one of the worst any of us have had to endure from a performance perspective for a long time, but to say we won't win a game next season is going too far even for you 'Trinity for Life'. So what if Salford are pulling out all the stops in the signing of 'big name' players but that does not guarantee success. Look at this years table at the beginning of the season many so called 'pundits' said we were nailed on to be fighting with Cas and Salford for the wooden spoon again they were wrong and they will be wrong next season too. We don't need to sign 'big name' players we just need committed team players, look at a few years ago we signed all the so-called 'project' players and we kicked ass, there is no reason why we can't do that again next season. Just because we did fairly well last year and did very well in 2004, doesn't give us the god given right to it every season as Bradford have started to learn. If people believe we won't win a game next season then that's up to them, but don't just throw the teddy out of the cot because we had a bad year.

We have a very fickle bunch of supporters, so much so that if we scored a 1000 points in a season and conceded just 1, all some people would post about would be that 1 point.

I'd keep all sharp objects away from you along with tablets that you could take. I think Wakefield do not need fans like you if you feel like that.

Whilst not everyone will agree with the OP's views and the way they are expressed, to me, after years of lurching from one disaster to another, you can not blame him for being sceptical about the chances of anything changing.

Rather than deriding him, what we should be looking for, is the club through actions and not just words, doing their damnedest to convince this type of supporter that there is a bright new future ahead and that if he sticks with it through what is likely to be a difficult 2011 season, it will be worth it come 2012.

We really dont need fans like that... I just hope its not an actual fan rather than someone trolling around with a fake account

An arrogant and shortsighted statement; this club is a million miles away from the luxury of being able to pick and choose what type of fans it needs.

As someone else pointed out, the sensible thing to do is remove the red, white and blue tinted glasses and start demanding that the club does better for everyone, including those fringe supporters who may or may not turn up each week; so long as the hardcore, rain or shine brigade keep pretending that everything is ok, the imperative for the club to manage itself more effectively is weaker.

I have been a supporter for over 20 years, and I've started to find other things to do during the latter half of the season, and to be honest I miss my mates and a beer more than trin.
Go back 3 or 4 years and I even tried to convince the heavily pregnant mrs that she wasn't really having contractions one Sunday afternoon so I could go to the game!!!
The worrying thing for me and probably a number of other fans is I can't even reall be bothered complaining that much any more, I am neither in the rose tinted brigade who sees no wrong and would waist there last penny on the club blindly or the can't do right for wrong brigade either.
Maybe it's just a end of a bad season thing bit when I think back to the enthusiasm of collecting signatures at the start of the season, and thinking how well we would do, it seems like years since and my enthusiasm has gone.
Why? To me players leaving and being replaced by second best, players putting little effort, all resulting in me thinking if they don't care why should I?
Hence I've missed the last 3 home games, missed the two away games I usually enjoy ( cas and salford), and if there isn't some genuine squad rebuilding after how we've been let down this season, I won't be rushing back.

as trinfan71 says i am a real fan,i attend every game i can (work permitting)along with my two young sons i own at at least 15 replica tops from our time in sl not to count a large amount of coats training top vests tops and t shirts car flags and stickers, my seven and five year old sons have the home and away shirts from the last 3 yeras (7 for last 4 seasons)this results in very large amount spent at the club.i also have two permement tattoos on my body relating to wakefield.so if im the sort fan the club dont need just because i see problems in the future to which i have reason{ to-,we dont have a sl stanard ground,we have a chairman who has no money (fact) we have a coach who wanted out (fact)we have had a shocking last 4-5 months of the season(fact-not just results but performces)and when i see the rummered signings compared to all other sl clubs it doesnt fill me with confidence.}

Trin for life I see you as a realist not a pessimist. Hopefully some good news come the beginning of October may put fans minds at rest regarding our future. I believe IF we get a start date for the stadium that means we can deliver for 2012 season then we shouldn't have a problem retaining our SL status. However i realise this is a big if.

Actually, what we dont need is people who think merely following like sheep and not questioning what is really going on, which any REAL fan with a snip of brains would be doing, is the best thing.

yes we need fans like that, what we dont need is "wakefield til i die" fans with no opinion or critisisms, because "wakefield till IT dies" is what your likely to get.

get real, look at the facts and post sense, loyal devotion in the club in its current state is pathetic!

October and Newmarket getting planning permission new investment and Trinity will be in the best position it's been in since the 60s.

Once again we have fan v fan - RTB v D&G, and quite frankly we don't need it right now.

We do need everyone on board supporting OUR club. There is nothing wrong in the expression of opinion, but there is a difference between just slating everything at the club and offering some kind of constructive criticism.

We are where we are - which is in SL, on the verge of a new Stadium and with the opportunity to re-build the business, possibly with new owners (if someone comes forward). This is the glass half full position and one which I will take over the opening post, but I will not blame anyone who feels cheesed off about this season.
