| Quote ="The Clan"Danny Brough, Wakefield to Hull KR
Arguably one of the best players in Super League on his day, the future of Brough has been under much speculation in recent months. He has now been linked with a move to Hull KR, where he would share the hooking role with Ben Fisher. Brough previously played for arch rivals Hull FC, and won the Challenge Cup with the Airlie Birds in 2005. He has also been linked with Huddersfield.
Oliver Wilkes, Wakefield to Harlequins
Versatile forward Wilkes is set to make the move south to London after Quins offered him a deal for the 2010 season. The former Wigan and Widnes man has been at Wakefield for the past two seasons but it is reported that Quins have made him a better offer to make the move south. Cumbrian born, Wilkes played for Scotland in the 2008 World Cup.'"

| The biggest problem we - and I'm sure some other clubs - are having at the moment is the agents of players that aren't out of contract at the end of the season.
We can all understand that agents will be involved (they've got a poor reputation to maintain after all!!! ) but when they begin encouraging players to ask for improved contracts one year into a three year deal & then tell them to demand a move if they get turned down, we can't expect to hear anything but a ridiculously high level of rumours from various "sources".
I'm not saying that players should represent themselves, but they certainly should be decent enough as individuals to respect the contracts they signed. The last thing I want to see is the players of this fantastic sport develop the primadonna attitude towards contracts that just aboout every footballer seems to have these days.

I'm amazed that so many run of the mill SL players use agents. For what they are on over a 10 years career, a 10-15% cut of their wage is pretty significant.

I get the impression that Danny wouldn't want to share any role he was given!

Don't swear, it's against the AUP.
I think both papers just regurgitate any rumour they hear. RLFans probably writes half the articles

Just using a couple of examples of media article speculation regarding two of our players.
Loke I said earlier there seems to be a story every 2 or 3 days about a contracted Wakefield player going somewhere else.
At this stage of the season it's particularly gauling as we need as few distractions as possible.
Makes you wonder if it isn't being orchestrated by someone!

Until we are settled in our new home, this is our lot. We have had a tough year and the crowds being down has not helped - at a time when we were clearly hoping, and still are to a degree, looking to push forward.
The problem we have is that there is far too much wheeler-dealing going on and we are seen as being 'receptive' when there is a deal to be done. Solo left with a year on his contract; BJ was released; Gareth was sold - some deals at our discretion - some not.
Olly going seems likely, but the Brough thing is another matter and I very much hope that we can secure his signature - so that we know where he will be for a couple more years yet - at least.

Does the players union offer representation to players, much like the PFA do for footballers who don't want to sign for agents?

Don't know but they ought to do.
Our game is not exactly awash with money particulary at grass roots level.
When you work out how much ends up in the pockets of these parasites it is a huge sum.
14 Sl clubs average £1.4M = £19.6M per season at 10% = £1.96M
I bet the game could finance antoher SL club with what ends up in the pockets of these people.

Does it really matter who is representing the players if the players are looking for improvements to their deals almost as soon as they've signed them.
I'm led to believe that the majority of the squad have sought some sort of enhancements to the side of the contracts that benefits them (i.e. the money) during the current season without wanting to increase their own commitment (i.e. contract length) in return.
Once the players understand that it's a two-way deal then life will be easier for every supporter. Something tells me that just isn't going to happen.

| Player agents are only the same as recruitment agents for IT, Sales, Marketing people.
Although I think it is easy money, they make the contacts for you and use their connections to get you the right job. They get a cut but not from your money but from the employer.
A player is bound to use an agent to get contracts and should always be the case (or at least available for them to use)
The problem comes with the rumours that are often generated from the agents to get a move going while in contract. I'm sure not all do but some are known to have done it.
It's not just us, Paul Cooke is constantly being talked about as is Lee Briers. Often it is just speculation on these types of boards that get out of hand.
As for "the club should put an end to it".
1) what can they do if it isn't through official channels?
2) if it's only upsetting fans rather than players then why should they? It's not their problem.

| and as for Brough going to HKR, that would be a terrible move for him.
Dobson and Cooke are the kings there. He would be wasted at hooker and would be giving up his play making role which I think is his forte.
and to be honest why would HKR buy a scrum half to play hooker (even though he can do it quite well) they may as well buy a hooker that fits their plans.
but who knows.

Doesn't really fit with Brough's own ambitions to play for England either, since he's even less likely to get the nod at hooker. With the pack we look like we're trying to form for next season, he might find his best chance is to stay put and show what he can do from here.
