But Wakefield needs the warehousing and offices for the much needed jobs that they will bring to the district exactly the same as Glasshoughton has brought jobs to the area.

Hopefully that is why the overall development will have the full support of the Council. The Newmarket proposal is about much more than a Community Stadium. If I remember rightly there were people who opposed the Stadium Business Park at Glasshoughton and there were also Greenbelt issues but it received Outline Planning Consent so issues like this can be overcome.

I mentioned that to John and he thought that was a good Idea, they could use the RW&Bs direct link to the supporters and the club

Thats how i recall it to of the few thousand people asked only a couple opposed the plan.

this could be a bit of a sticking point then i guess, i dont really know what council proceadures are as to weather they can just sweep objections for projects under the carpet to make way for progress but my guess would be that enough people from the newmarket lane area make there feelings known about the warehouse and office units then this could be a real spoke in the stadium wheels.

Bet you'd love that. By the way have you seen how many people live along there. If you can come up with a site anywhere in WMDC that will effect less people than this development will then I'd be interested to know where it is.

no mate not at all, i dont take any pleasure in that at all and yes i do realise there are not many houses down newmarket lane but from what i have been told its people who live in the surrounding area, anyway before this thread goes O/T into another slaging match i will leave it at that.

No they weren't. I know one of them personally and he is not from Wakefield and he is not a Wakefield Fan and he lived at ......................Glasshoughton.

It seems that some on here think that if someone, or a few people object then there is a chance that planning will be refused or a Public Enquiry will be called. Sorry to dissappoint you but the vast majority of major planning applications have objectors. The Planning Board can, if they feel that the particular project will bring in benefits, in this case jobs, then they can consider the objections and over rule them if they feel benefits exceed the concerns of the objectors.

If the Council wants this project to happen then it will happen and thats it pretty much in a nut shell.

I've gone a bit giddy

It will be interesting to see what Boxy and his crew say at the press conference in the morning. This is HUGE for the region and goes a long way to really stating our ambitions as a city.

Without saying too much I have had a quick preview of the presentation. This is far more than just a stadium, when you read the rest of the community facilities and opportunity that this will bring to Wakefield and the whole district its far far more than I expected.
I have been living in and around Wakefield for quite some time and there is no doubt in all those years this is by far the biggest thing that has ever happened in the way of all the wide range of benefits that it will bring to the wider community.
I have said it before if any politician or party were to oppose this and what it has to offer it would be criminal.

Considering the Secretary of State calls in approximately 50 projects per year, I think it's more than likely you'll be fine. Stop worrying you lot. You'll get your stadium.

From Boxy to Obama the in-phrase of the moment is "economic regeneration'".
This scheme will cost WMDC nothing and will put food on plates for hundreds, if not thousands of residents, not to mention a few quid in the coffers of local council. Who ever is in power, red or blue, this project is a no brainer.
