The biggest difference this time is that Wakefield will get the 'Contributionto league' point for averaging 8th+ over the last 3 seasons where as Castleford would stuggle for this even if they finished 8th this time, meaning Wakefield would be (just) ahead.'"
Nobody knows the criteria and I would assume it would be refined for over the licence period, not inclusive of any time before that. Therefore Wakefield would be ahead based on the first year but if Cas finish above Wakefield this season it would be 1-all. Although, there seems to be some confusion as a few people seem to think that one season finishing in the eight would qualify you for that point, which would mean Cas and Wakey are equal.

Rather have Wakefield Trinity playing in Wakefield regardless of the division.

So even we we agree to a ground share in cas, Castleford could find them selves replace in Super League. After all the RFL won't want to two teams playing in the same stadium when a Widnes or Barrow could come up. The fairest way to choose this team would be the one with the most points.
Saying that I would support a team playing full time in shared stadium Castleford (just like Cas fans at Newmarket). I'd just about accept Oakwell (if this is the plan B) if it was for a season, but not full time.'"
So we finished 8th last season, we stand a good chance of finishing 8th this season. Average........er..........8th!

Think thats the most likely outcome now, to be honest i dont care Ive had enough of SL / grounds / NIMBYS / SWAG etc etc, the whole thing is just politics and has been to the detriment of the sport we watch, this isnt a team we are watching now its a bloody franchise, and in my honest opinion I think we have invested way too much time and effort in to the battle for thornes and newmarket ESPECIALLY if it did not stand up without council help, as it would now appear neither did, and far too little in the playing side of the club.

| The whole saga has Rodney Walker written all over it, the man has been pushing for a ground share for months. I wouldnt be surprised if the worm wasnt in favour of a merger too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The game in going to lose a hell of a lot of supporters from both teams depending on where the stadium is built, if it ever is.
I agree with the featherstone poster the championship is looking better than ever, a real sporting division without the obvious bias of the Superleague. You lot stay at Belle Vue and we will stay darnt lane, and let battle recommence in the championship, sticking two fingers up to Superleague at the same time.
The Superleague is killing the game and they can do it without our help

| There were 5 teams given a warning by the RFL re Stadia - they can only bring one team up from the NL, I think bringing two in at once would be pure folly. So by my reckoning, if us and Cas cannot agree on a groundshare, then at least one of us would still be in regardless of work progressing on the stadium.
They might as well tell all the teams with stadiums that are fit for the elite competition not to bother going through the application process - if teams that don't meet that requirement are first in line for the chop (regardless of how well they score on the rest of the application issues)

No - I meant that if you don't meet the elite stadium criteria you are first in line for the chop no matter what points you score elsewhere - which is what I think it says although admittedly not in the best english!!!

If we go to Glasshoughton, it is not in Wakefield anymore and so is not my team. If we go to Oakwell as an alternative, it will become a Barnsley team and is not my team. I do not support a limited company called Wakefield Trinity. I support a rugby team in Wakefield called Wakefield Trinity, and when that ends, I can see no reason to support them somewhere else purely because it has the same board of directors.
This is not an anti-Cas thing, but I'm not from Cas, and don't want to support a team playing in Cas. Sport support is an emotional thing, and I'll follow my emotions, not reason.'"

| Quote ="Theboyem"The only thing that surprises me is that anybody would be surprised by whats happened. These groundshare discussions have been going on for months, in fact I was asked by someone on here to keep quiet about what I knew because it was so sensitive. Box has had this agenda all along and was just waiting to get voted back in in may before he unleashed his plan. Ignore his claims that its due to spending cuts, the decision had been made long before the government changed. SWAG have been led up the garden path in all this i'm afraid, and as much as they can try to lobby the council it won't make a jot of difference. The political will to make Newmarket happen is not there, so it won't. From the clubs point of view Glasshoughton is a non-starter. The only hope we have is to drop down to the championship and hope to survive, hope that Glasshoughton falls through because of the financials and Newmarket can then be resurrected some time in the future. Its a sad state of affairs when your relying on another clubs misfortune for your own prosperity and one that makes me sick to the stomach. The RFL have a lot to answer for in all this as well. The reality of the situation is that both clubs could easily go to the wall and the whole area will be poorer as a result. There will be no winners in all this and Mr Box will have a lot to answer for.'"
I think there will be one winner in all this, and it won't be us. Box may have a lot to answer for, but he's looking at the election results and asking himself - who's going to call me to account? The day the rhetoric changed from "Box" to "Peter" was the day we were well and truly sold down the river, but in truth, we were probably shafted before then.

Well thats Cas and Waystones out of the race!
We on the other hand can fund the project. All we need is the political will. And believe me if we feel a shafting coming before Sept we will take to the streets.
We need him out. I think we need to seriously look at what is the legislation and whether it's possible for citizens to lodge a vote of no confidence.
