| Quote ="BigDog"They wouldn't announce the head coach on a Saturday night or a Sunday would they? Let's see if the plumber is right? I hope not on this occasion. I reckon they will announce it early this week, they need to too as I am sure many fans are waiting for this before getting a season ticket.'"
I hope that Andrew and James are well aware of this. Our season ends on Friday and then all goes a bit quieter generally. That will make it harder then to keep any momentum going as far as selling Season Tickets goes.
I would hope that it will be announced today or tomorrow to give the club the best chance to push and sell more Season Tickets in the run up to Friday.

If they set on the wrong man it won't make a blind bit of difference.
The club really is at the crossroads. It has a chance to grab the imagination of the public and move forward to a brighter future . Or we can be seen to be appointing a coach who is someones mate and that the fans don't want, thus meaning season ticket sales stagnate, interest dies and we end up in the same position we've bben in for years. If AG is the shrewd businessman we believe then he'll know that he has to listen to his customers and will act accordingly.

If that is the case he must know that sooner or later he his going to have to make a massive investment if he wants to move this club forward. We have a loyal bunch who will buy season tickets and join the lottery no matter what. However Trinity is now owned by him, its his business and his company. He can't keep expecting loyalty and blind faith. He has to spend money and provide a product that the greater public want to buyin to, I can't see it working any other way.

| Am i right in thinking JE and Richard Agar had quite a few years playing together at Dewsbury?? Is that where the connection is??
As has been stated, we have the chance to make a coaching appointment that would get people interested. Agar has had 3 years, spending upto the full cap and has pretty much failed. No way should they be only just making the play offs. What has he done that could convince us he is the right man???????????
Hope this is wrong. Would not be happy at all!!

Probably and that appears to be enough though Agar has never been at Dewbury in any capacity according to Wiki anyway - may have been York.

| Quote ="vastman"I'm fine with what you say apart from that bit - that is not a statement of fact that is an assumption based on the pap posted on here and thus isn't relevant IMHO. As far as I'm told Elston and Agar know each other reasonably well, Elston knows loads of RL people reasonably well. However they are not life long chums, they are not family. I think it's part of the nonsense peddled on here by the malicious to make it appear far more than it is.
People can't have it both ways. If JE is suitable as our CEO as most suggest then on the other hand he can't then be accused of giving jobs to his mate - there is a huge contradiction there.
If JE is the man then he will or will not advise AG to employ Agar for all the right reasons.'"
That's the funny thing, over the weeks Elston has gone from knowing Agar, to being friendly with him, to basically best mates sleeping at each others houses and going on holiday together.

| In all honesty I'm sure agar is not fans no1 coach but he has got hull to a cc final, in the playoffs last year and in the mix possibly playoffs this year too.
I realise hull spend closer to the cap than we do but it's not too bad a record to date is it? As for this mates business, if his mate has put faith in him I'm sure he won't want to dissappoint. I don't think glover is a mug either and I'm sure the correct processed have been gone through.
Assistant and conditioner are two important roles also. Cummins is ooc anyway so will be looking for a new assistants role in the very least??
If we do get a conditioner I would like it to be from a playoff material team. Or a conditioning duo of 2. The players such as Moriano, Johnson have potential and if we unlock this we have two good players.

with sideshow bob on the wing against them, i suspect that normanton knights would have made the cc final.
he's just about made the playoffs with a team on full cap.
he started with a team in broadly better shape than they are now i'd suggest. his record is below average at a club with higher than average attendance, revenues and players.
not good enough.

| i thought hull were more of a struggling team before Agar came on the scene? may be wrong. Seems he has done ok to me.
He would get a clean slate from me. I think we need to face reality at present that these are the type of candidates we are looking at.
We have had a shambolic season off field and not a cracking one on it. We have just aquired off-field stability and will not have the clout required to pull in a top coach. We need a coach who can take us to play-off contenders in 2012 and play-offs in 2013.
If that is achieved, attendences, ST sales should rise year on year and in 2 years hopefully with newmarket on the horizon we will be real contenders. The warrington model is one we should be following but a little more steadier.
Agar has done it with Hull and in the mix this year. something similar with wakefield next year is what is needed. Im not saying he is my first choice but i would give him a chance. if its him.

I'm not sure struggling is the right word. They won CC under Kear and were in later stages of playoffs.
Wasn't there someone lese in between? Can't remember but even when Agar took over he has struggled with key injuries, like Long and have performed well but not to their own expectations.
When people keep saying he is rubbish because he is spending up to the Cap and he is only just in the 8, surely the 6 above him are also spending the full Cap so hardly a yard stick. If he was down with us it would be a problem.
He isn't my favourite but I wouldn't be against Agar being in charge.

So it's John Kear's fault that Richard Agar has struggled despite having the players he has, and there being another coach inbetween? Are you Lupset_Airport?
