TBF I think Millward would have been a good choice for Wakefield at this time given a clean slate. With the club's current position, no way is a coach with the pedigree of the likes of Gentle going to be interested especially with coaching positions available at bigger more financially stable clubs. We would have to pay silly money that should be spent on the squad. Sadly coaches like Agar are the ones we are going to be looking at.

We need to rebuild, consolidate next season then push on with a couple of top 8 finishes, hopefully move into the new stadium. Then we become more interesting to the top coaches and players.

FWIW think the clubs shortlist of 3 was Millward, Noble and Agar out of these probably think Noble is the best option.

For me its a lucky escape him joining Cas but untill we get someone sorted we could still end up with worse.

I agree - discounting comedy options like Harrison and Goulding, the only one we've been linked with that fills me with dread is Agar.

i understand we interviewed around 12 people. this is nonsense, some were clearly deadwood and shouldn't have even been seen. we interviewed two people for over four hours, these two are clearly the contenders.

we should have started with a short list, not a long list. the result of this is delay. delay in getting a coach, delay in sorting what needs to happen to the ground, and delay in getting a squad of any merit together.

How has it delayed the ground improvements? Also we have made a few good signings so we are on the way to putting together a squad of some merit.

It does seem like a lot of people to interview but I guess it's better to explore all available options despite what us on here might think about certain candidates.

I don't agree. The act of creating the long list and screening the candidates is what enables you to arrive at a good short list; that's the point where the robust and lenghty interviews start taking place.

What you glibly portray as time-wasting could just as easily be perceived as the right and proper due dilligence process for what is likely to be the most important decision that the club has made since AG took over.

Frustrating I know, but you should save your finger-pointing until they've announced who this rigorous process has identified as the right man for the job.

I think Millward would have been a decent realistic signing for us and will probably do a decent job for Cas. I know plenty on here are praying we can entice Gentle or similar but I think someone of that calibre is probably out of our reach currently. Maybe after a couple of years of development with Newmarket underway we would be a more enticing option - but for now I think we'll have to set our sights a little lower.

Hardly half dozen people is it and it's not even the faceless on here, at the ground when the rumor was doing the rounds the other week, everyone I spoke to and the general vibe was no thanks.
They also said they were looking for a coach to bring through the youth, Agar doesn't fit this ball at all, in fact he's the opposite.

My source tells me that Bennett will be our HC next season; FACT.

On the defence now widening the argument I was referring to comments made about this forum and I have not heard anyone slaf Agar off at the ground or elsewhere other than on here and the Hull forum, hes on contract so I aint going to worry about it.

I am so pleased to have a cluba nd be in SL league after the last 8 months that I will be happy with whoever the people that matter appoint a coach
