Yeah but if he really wants to be in as a 'main player' in the newmarket development, owning the rugby club that plays at the crucial community stadium would put him and his company top of the list.. Very interesting article, obviously a very shrewd guy. I would imagine he would run rings round the dummies at the RFL, which makes me think if he is the guy that's coming in, he will have "assurances" from the RFL as to our future.

reading that page through shows a grit and determination to get what he wants, looks like he's had some good breaks on the way to his successful business but the hard graft has paid off for him

Well more 2nd hand rumours that i've heard about this....it's Steve Parkin, another rich bloke and then 2 Wakefield fans who are banding together wanting to buy the club.

Whatever happened to the knight in shining armour that was rumoured to be interested in us last year. It was all over this board like a rash - heating firm or some such; people on here knew the family etc

Moving everything to Newmarket allows Steve Parkin to keep an eye on all of his businesses without taking too much time going between them. The main trading business would obviously remain his focus, but meetings for either the team who play with the funny shaped ball or WT could be managed easily. Driving between Wakefield & Guiseley takes an absolute age at the best of times & there's abvious benefits to this deal IF the rumours are true & IF a deal is put together.

His current office is based in Brighouse, so just along the M62

It'd still take a lot of money, maybe more than keeping Wakefield in SL year in, year out, to get Guiseley into the Football League. The Conference is a very tough place to escape from. Have to feel for the poor supporters who'll have their team taken away from them should they be moved to Newmarket if any of this is true,

FWIW Guisley have to improve their ground ie more turnstiles, dressing and kit rooms and extra seating by 31.03.11 just to stay in their league (Blue Square North) or they will be relegated.They are going great guns this season and could get promoted and if that is the case they will have to imprive their ground again for Conference. Cant see them coming all way from Guisley to ground share with us.

Good point. I suppose any Guiseley fan may well be very hacked off with a potential move to Wakefield. Perhaps he's going to move us to Guiseley. I had a look on the Guiseley forum a little earlier and there wasn't even a sniff of anything to do with Parkin or Wakefield Trinity.

Having said that,a wendyball team with the name Wakefield will probably attract more attention than Guiseley.

The one that lived at Belle Vue, and now at College Grove, hasn't as of yet.
