| Don't blame Box, don't blame Cas or Wakey. The blame lies with Super League itself, its the biggest joke in british sport if you can still call it a sport (that died when promotion and relegation ended). Life outside Super League is much more the sport now. Unless a stadium is unsafe then why should it matter. Everyone has got caught up in the wrong issues, brainwashed by the Super League promise. Neither of your clubs can truely compete at the top level as it stands. Super League will eventually implode, too many weak clubs that shouldn't be kept in for the sake of it. Decisions in sport should be decided on the field. We are Fev look forward to seeing you soon, i enjoy the championship. Its still a sport down here.

Fully understand your concerns with sharing a stadium but without a new stadium i'm affraid you'll be booted out of Superleague?
My concern for you both is once your sharing a stadium will the next step be to merge? and i know what you'll say to that?

| Ha ha yeah, its not concern of mine. I'm going to the match tomorrow though as neutral watching our two nearest and dearest, Should be a good match. You've really been brainwashed by the super league dream though. The championship is a good league and standard (helps when your top aswell)!! You won't remember the feeling of being top of the league though, most of your current fans weren't around pre 1999!!!

| The only thing that surprises me is that anybody would be surprised by whats happened. These groundshare discussions have been going on for months, in fact I was asked by someone on here to keep quiet about what I knew because it was so sensitive. Box has had this agenda all along and was just waiting to get voted back in in may before he unleashed his plan. Ignore his claims that its due to spending cuts, the decision had been made long before the government changed. SWAG have been led up the garden path in all this i'm afraid, and as much as they can try to lobby the council it won't make a jot of difference. The political will to make Newmarket happen is not there, so it won't. From the clubs point of view Glasshoughton is a non-starter. The only hope we have is to drop down to the championship and hope to survive, hope that Glasshoughton falls through because of the financials and Newmarket can then be resurrected some time in the future. Its a sad state of affairs when your relying on another clubs misfortune for your own prosperity and one that makes me sick to the stomach. The RFL have a lot to answer for in all this as well. The reality of the situation is that both clubs could easily go to the wall and the whole area will be poorer as a result. There will be no winners in all this and Mr Box will have a lot to answer for.

Neither will happen if either is reliant on any govt grant, lottery grant or european grant for the capital build, simple as that.

I do not think there will be a public inquiry if the Council is fully behind the scheme but there lies the problem. I believe the Council are delaying matters so as to force us to Glasshoughton.
Glasshoughton needs funding from Newmarket and I believe the only way Glasshoughton can happen is if it becomes the Wakefield District Community Stadium.
I'd tell the Council to "shove it" and we wish to continue with Newmarket. If that means that both us and Castleford fail to get a franchise then so be it. Or the Council could support Newmarket like they promised and we would see a Stadium equidistant from both Wakefield and Castleford that could be the Wakefield & District Community Stadium.

| Says it all when some fans on here are willing to sacrifice their Super League licence and potentially their future by not switching to their rivals.
Admire the loyalty but if it comes down to it, what would you rather have? Watching SL rugby in Cas or if the worst comes to pass a small club?

You have to laugh, you really do. No doubt the next time that little soundbite reappears, we'll hear Lazio and Roma instead.

Option 2 for me. I don't follow Trinity because they're in SL. Going to Cas will finish the club any how.

I think it's nailed on it would lead to a merger, maybe not straight away but i think in the space of 2 or 3 years it would happen. Then we would have all these arguments again about what the merged team would be called, well i will put my suggestion for that forward now I would call the side Calder & Aire Seagulls. That way i think it would be fair to both sides but the only thing is i cant think what you could call the team for short, does anyone have any ideas ?

| Without knowning all the details, I understand that Wakefield and Castleford scored the same amount of points in the first set of franchises, and nothing has changed since then. The biggest difference this time is that Wakefield will get the 'Contributionto league' point for averaging 8th+ over the last 3 seasons where as Castleford would stuggle for this even if they finished 8th this time, meaning Wakefield would be (just) ahead.
So even we we agree to a ground share in cas, Castleford could find them selves replace in Super League. After all the RFL won't want to two teams playing in the same stadium when a Widnes or Barrow could come up. The fairest way to choose this team would be the one with the most points.
Saying that I would support a team playing full time in shared stadium Castleford (just like Cas fans at Newmarket). I'd just about accept Oakwell (if this is the plan B) if it was for a season, but not full time.
