| Heard yesterday off someone who I would imagine would know and he said def Agar. It won't be announced until they know whether they are in the play offs to not rock the boat with the Hull teams moral.
IMO this (if true) is the wrong move and I think the target of 2500 season tickets will never be reached. We will end up with Powell or cummins I hope both of which I would be happy with, I think the whole gentle thing has been and gone.
On behalf of what I am sure is alot of wakey fans for those of the board/team read this.......PLEASE NOT AGAR

| If it is agar then so be it. He has got hull in the playoff mix right at the last game after a shaky start. Something similar at Wakefield would be acceptable this coming season.
He like any coach would get a clean slate for me. I think the options are agar, noble and goulding.

| Same here, if Agar so be it, he maybe a steping stone, to build the team and take it to the next level top six, come on lets face it we are not going to attract a top coach with the team we have, it is all a building process, if it is him give him a chance, in the first year I would settle for what he as done at Hull, build the squad and take it from there...... KEEP THE FAITH

So you heard on Sunday that although Hull FC were guaranteed a play of place on Saturday night
by virtue of beating Cas that your man in the know says the Agar appointment won't be announced just yet because they whoever they are don't want to rock the boat regarding Hull's team moral, give yer head a shake

| Not saying I would want him as coach, but of late he seems have have turned it around at Hull.
Could it be since old Kath sold her share in the club he has had less interference from her and
now he is starting to get on with the job much better ?
Last but not least I don't like his assistants when all three sit together in the stand they look like
an ugly trio of little hobbits.

| I don't agree with the acceptance of mediocrity that Agar's appointment would represent - he's done nothing of note at Hull, with a massive playing budget, 18 billion loyal supporters and a wealthy, influential BoD behind him; what the hell do people think he would achieve here?
If, after coming back from the brink of extinction and conjuring up a SL future out of thin air, the best appointment we can make to lead the club forward in a new state of the art stadium is Richard bloody Agar, then we may as well chuck it all in now.

You know I was thinking about this myself. Hulls BOD have a history of interfering in team matters and not backing their Coach - as happened to JK.
I don't actually recall much about Agar pre Hull TBH. However failing at Hull who are SL's greatest under achievers is by itself not enough for a prosecution.
He's still not for me but then no British Coach is. I'm personally convinced that the only way we can move on is by making a massive leap forward. Again just IMHO only an Aussie can offer this, someone totally independent from the British game who has no pre conceived ideas. Whether Gentle is that man I don't know, but with all the will in the world Agar along with all the other Brits isn't the man as IMO. All are products of SL which by definition is inferior by a fair way.
If Agar is picked I will back him and pray he proves me wrong but he will need to up his game by a large amount.

| If its true about Agar, seems Elston is running the new corner shop business.
Are Hull just going to release him - cos it would be even worse if we had to pay them compensation.
The last week or two with no positive news have hindered the sale of season tickets and this will just wreck any chance of getting 2,500 to buy before end of the month. We are going to lose a number of those who have already "pledged" as they wont want to pay the extra 75 quid.

That IMO has always been Hulls problem - to many Directors who fancy themselves as Rugby men. Not trying to sell Agar to you, he's certainly done nothing great. That said he is probably better than he was allowed to be with old stone face at the club. He also lacks an Aussie accent which in the eyes of some directors immediately means you are entitle to push him around in a way they wouldn't dare to with an Aussie.
You could argue that Agar must be stronger than that and fight his corner and he should but it's very difficult.
I have experienced at first hand the different attitude most clubs show to Aussies as compared to British players and Coaches and it's pathetic and it stinks. Aussie are lorded to high heavens and rarely argued with, they are treated as equals by the BOD. Their British counterparts are with a few exceptions treated with utter contempt - Ive seen it at first hand. Not so much at Wakey but I saw it big time at Fev and Sheffield in the Hetherington days.

They wouldn't announce the head coach on a Saturday night or a Sunday would they? Let's see if the plumber is right? I hope not on this occasion. I reckon they will announce it early this week, they need to too as I am sure many fans are waiting for this before getting a season ticket.

I have always thought that if we appoint a coach that fires the publics imagination. Sign three or four really top class players with some other decent quality SL standard players, the season tickets will sell themselves without the need to discount.
Quite frankly with the squad we have assembled so far and the way we are dithering appointing a coach its a wonder anyone is bothering to buy them. OK we have made a couple of half decent signings but what we have signed to date is no better than the squad that started the season. So who in their right mind would want a season ticket to witness a repeat of the dross we have been dished up this year

Are you describing a RL problem or a Hetherington problem?
A close friend of mine played at Sheffield under the regime you're talking about and some of the stories he tells of Hetherington behaviour are absolutely astounding.
Either way, I don't see that cosying up with his buddy Mr Elston at WTW will be a catalyst for Agar to perform any differently; if anything, he could lose whatever edge he does have in what could be perceived as a safe, matey environment.
We're on a knife-edge here - his appointment would, in my eyes, be a disaster on several fronts.

I'm fine with what you say apart from that bit - that is not a statement of fact that is an assumption based on the pap posted on here and thus isn't relevant IMHO. As far as I'm told Elston and Agar know each other reasonably well, Elston knows loads of RL people reasonably well. However they are not life long chums, they are not family. I think it's part of the nonsense peddled on here by the malicious to make it appear far more than it is.
People can't have it both ways. If JE is suitable as our CEO as most suggest then on the other hand he can't then be accused of giving jobs to his mate - there is a huge contradiction there.
If JE is the man then he will or will not advise AG to employ Agar for all the right reasons.
