| If this fiasco didn't involve those utterly honourable bastions of fair play, honesty, and integrity at RFL, I would suspect them of mal practice even monetary gain.
It's a good job I'm not suspicious.

Why would anyone, Newco or Oldco, REPAY an ADVANCE???
A loan? Yes. An advance that you are contractually due to? No!
If the Bulls are ADVANCED a due payment, what happens to the Newco, when that payment is actually scheduled to be paid?
Wakefield's problem were, at least in part, attributed to the RFL refusing financial assistance. Perhaps this was only refused to the Richardson's, but was loaned to the Administrator to be repaid by the Newco.
That is not the same situation as Bulls - were are talking about an ADVANCE, not a LOAN.

| Quote ="dboy"Yes it is! The money is being given to a club that the RFL know will not exist after next Tuesday.
If a Newco IS formed, they would expect the money too (it's due to all SL clubs at a later date in the season).
What are the RFL going to do? Say "no, you've had it already", or "here you go, have some more on us"?'"
I don't see it that way. The new company will have no right to the money as they were not part of the original agreement. They can't demand something they have no right to demand. Also, the money would be paid over to pay the players, which I have no problem with. It's everyone's interests to see the club fulfil their fixtures.
What this has made me realise is how straightforward our own administration was.

That's an excellent point! Perhaps Bulls continued SL presence means they won't be entitled to future payments, but I still doubt that the RFL have the balls to enforce that and any prospective buyer would be unhappy with that.

I suppose another way of looking at it is that if the advance pays the wages for July, that is something the new company won't have to pay. The RFL may make admittance of the new company conditional on the advance being the advance, and that it has been paid and gone.
There are hints at new people on the horizon. The interesting thing will be the season tickets. The new club might not honour them, and you couldn't blame them. The fans have had their moneys worth and who will take on a club that will make no more money through the gate until next year. If the wages are £200,000 per month, they will need to find a lot of money to keep paying the players. The easiest way is to declare the season tickets null and void and take what they can through the gate.

| How can they possibly complete any fixtures at the moment with only players? Surely H&S ensures that all clubs must have Physios, Doctors, Coaches. They have no staff not even a time keeper!

I hope we've been on the phone.
If I were RA, I'd have jumped in my car yesterday morning and shot up to Tong; all the players were hanging around waiting for a meeting with Mr Guilfoyle, who failed to attend - a perfect time to have a quiet word.
Hull are obviously in a strong position, as they have cap space *and* cash - we have cap space, but probably no cash.

| Lets bring back Ollie Elima abd out of the other Bulls players who have impressed me, Keith Lulia for one and Elliott Whitehead, impressed me when I first saw him play against us in 2009.

| Guilfoyle reported at the supporter's meeting the other night that he had received 'derisory' offers for some players - I wonder if that was Mr Pearson's opening salvo?
Personally, I'd go for Bryn Hargreaves and Elliot Whitehead, with maybe a cheeky punt on the Burgess lad - I think Bateman* will be out of our reach, given that Wire reportedly offered £300k for him a few weeks ago.
*edited - I put Whitehead but I meant Bateman.

I'd go for Hargreaves or Kopchek - Burgess and Whitehead won't join us IMHO. However if the club wants to send out a message of intent I'd go for Bateman - there is a player to build a team around - it's just a case of getting him to believe we will which isn't easy.

Its almost like their Administrator is psychic or something!!!

| I think we are better going for second tier players.
While the others are all fighting over Bateman, Burgess and to a certain extent Whitehead We can pick up Hargreaves or Kopczec (spell?). Not sure whether Elima will be a tier 1 so maybe him too.
Right now I don't think we are in a place to build a team around guys as young as Bateman. We need to build around established players and add the star youth once built.
And although it weed me off when the vultures were circling us, as I felt we really were being ripped off given that Glover was on his way in, in Bradford's case you are giving a living to a player that may well lose that income soon. Nothing bad about that.

| Sammut's obviously a jinx! Steer clear
Seriously though he'd be a good option for you at No6 leaving Sykes to move to centre.

| I've always liked Sammut and lamented the fact that when he first came to play in SL we didn't seem to be in for him - we were desperately short in that position, having just lost Brough.
He's slipped off the radar a bit this season - has he had a long injury?
Either way, I've always liked his off-the-cuff style - not sure it's what we need right now, given that Sykes appears to have steadied us at HB, but it would be worth a look.

| He broke his leg a few months back and has just returned.
He is a bit off the cuff and hard to read but sometimes you need that. Playing outside a steady playmaker he's good and a versatile player too.

Does he still have that awesome Captain Jack Sparrow look going on? We've been a bit short in that dept since Rinaldi moved on, so that would be a bonus.

| The sale of players during our admin was a bit strange and I’m still not sure exactly what happened.
According to the admin report the assets of the company were assessed as £26,100 when the first offer was made (£50k clipper?). This offer was withdrawn and AG had his offer of £30k accepted. This did not assign any value to the players, so Obst and Ferguson were sold for £10k each +VAT.
Hull had agreed the sale in principle before the administrators were appointed but they sold both before Spirit of 1873 bought the club. I guess to cover their own costs. According to them they did not sell or release any other players??? Were the others just released by the previous company prior to admin?
I wonder if Bradford’s players have been assigned a value? Do the administrators need to cover costs, or is that taken care of?
