They used to play at the Wakefield Arms also. Anybody remember another band who used to play there called the Zillionairs? Not a Jazz band more 50s and 60s classics? Anyone remember them, bass player was called Costello I thing.

Why? what's wrong with saying to someone they don't play with an aggressive style? I felt Garforth was one of those player who actually needed to display more aggression on the pitch, I think it would have made him a better player - that's what I was simply implying,not that he was ineffective!

His son I think he was the bass player, they were pretty good musicians but not very original good pub band.

Tony Costello had the Wakefield Arms right up to closure I think. He played the piano and the Jazz nights at the pub were very popular. I noticed there was a scaffold around the building when I passed the other day. it seems like they're renovating it. The buiding has "listed" status having been one of the first in the world to be built using Portland cement.
