Your right Charlie that we keep coming up with the same errors and as a fan it’s very frustrating, but when on the occasions they get it right we are a match for anyone .
I think this is were the coaching needs to be focused on , so we turn the screw on teams and build pressure instead of letting teams off the hook like last night we’re we had ample chance to pin them down on their line but blew it .

Have said it before but we need to be patient in the opposition's 25.

Wigan played it better than us in this area which resulted in their tries.

We are often slow with the ball in this area and can look short of ideas therefore a more patient game with a good kick over the line to force one or two drop outs should be a priority.

Has to be a good side to defend 12 or 18 tackles on their own line.

Small margins as many have already said but patience and the ability to learn from our mistakes will pay dividends.

On the plus side we are experimenting with a variety of kick offs now which almost ended with a superb TJ score last night.

Wigan had few chances but took them well, whereas we arguably spent more time in their 20 but lacked composure.
However, the killer for Trinity at the moment is discipline (we seem to get a sin binning every week and 2 last night) and the number of penalties we are giving away.
If we tighten that up, we will be ok.

Another good game from Crowther and Batch also looked great, less sure about Anakin. Gave some penalties away and it looked like someone had got under his skin.

Annakin for me is very much a squad filler. He's never going to be first choice but will come in and do a job in the short term. Good value for his contract but unlikely to develop or offer anything further.

Thought annakin did a good job last night and rattled a few cages as well .
You need that bit of niggle in a side to unsettle the opposing team .
One thing I did notice last night was the amount of yardage Wigan made after the tackle ,we need to get back to basics and get someone round the legs .

I don’t agree and I don’t think we’ve ALL said any such thing. It’s been a hobby horse of a few but why you think you talk for us all baffles me because you don’t.

We did what all teams do and tried to slow the game - sometimes it works sometimes it doeasnt but to suggest we do it any more than anyone else or have a problem with it is imo unrealistic and a touch absurd unless you want us to play with one hand behind our back?

Slip of the tongue with all. But we give a lot of silly penalties every week what I was saying is you'd think they would have learned by now but it seems we haven't

We certainly seem able to give away pens at the worst possible moment. And so often utterly unforced and needless, daft things. At least 3 pens last night I can recall, when we had them on the back foot, in the Wigan half and had won the challenge

Surely Chester has the authority to stop it last night there were countless needless penalties. Someones got to take charge

Sadly as it's a part of the game that I really don't like, to get an even playing field we need to start whinging at the ref more and flopping back down to the ground when trying to get up and play the ball impeded.
I've said all season, we are too nice and want to play to the whistle instead of doing what everyone else does and milk penalties.

It's not something I really want to see us do TBH but without it we are going to constantly end up on the wrong side of the penalty count.

Penalty count at HT last night was 10 - 3 in Wigan's favour. We wont win too many games with those stats.

Ironically, according to the Super League site, we went above Wigan in the Penalties conceded league last night. We are 5th.
Saying that, there is obviously an error on the page as Salford and Hull KR are on there twice.

But as you would expect, Sts are bottom of that league but equally the other teams around them are all bottom four clubs.

The point of giving the penalty away at the worst time is just that that is the time when you are under pressure and more likely to make a mistake. None of the players is trying to give a penalty away, but they do try and slow play down and do try and try to catch up with risky plays. Those are the times when you give penalties away.

Last night was the tough game I was expecting and I’m very pleased with the win after what has been a very emotional week at Wigan.

For as long as the game has existed defences have tried to slow the play the ball down and attacks have tried to play it quickly. Every team does it and That will never change. That said you have to be smart about it and having watched the game back you pushed it too far on too many occasions resulting in the penalty count. It’s a fine line which you went the wrong side of.

Both sin bins I thought were harsh though it’s something most fans have been calling for and there, rightly is a lot of focus on dangerous contact whether unintended or not.

One thing that’s gone through my head a few times these past few days, on the back of a loss where I thought things could have gone so differently if some very minor things changed in the game, is go back to the Agar era where we made the playoffs and correct me if I’m wrong; lost every game?

It's all part of the game slowing the ruck down, you're very good at it as a side. There's an art to it and we got pinged because we were just a bit too too slow getting clear.

Or you could argue that Wigan didn't get pinged for it because we didn't make a fuss over them doing it to us by diving on the floor when trying to get up and play the ball, or by throwing arms up in exasperation at every tackle.
Either way, you have to admit that Wigan played the ref better than we did, as most sides seem to be able to do sadly.

Lets not forget that Wigan have the best goal line defense in the league, they allowed us very little time once we were within 20 meters of there line, I don`t think it has been a problem for us, we seem to ship plenty of points past other teams and seem to create the opportunities when we are down ton the opponents line.

I think we're off the pace 10 yards out, not very clinical and struggle to get around a 5h1t or bust defensive line.
We have one ace in the hole and that's Pauli Pauli, as a brute force over or a foil.
I'd back us to score from 30 40+ yards out but not 10 unless we're rolling them over.

So as usual we get the wrong calls. Joe Greenwood up on a charge as purposely applying by forcefully twisting Crowther in the 14 minute had this been seen he should have got a red. The Grix incident they have said sin bin sufficient but the Ashurst they have admitted he actually makes a reasonable attempt to allow his head through the tackle. This is getting beyond a joke now.

Not to mention Clubb literally let's go of the ball and drops it to the floor. Yet it's a pen to Wiggin.

The Ashurst sin binning was ridiculous for me, it really was not a yellow. Maybe Jordan should have stayed down and drawn attention to the tackle as the Wigan player did holding the back of his neck? Players seem to have a habit of doing that in televised games so that they go back and look at it. It is gamesmanship but if other teams are doing it then so should we.

Also on a separate point, Wigan fans complaining about us slowing down the ruck area, they have been guilty of this for years!! Granted they are smart in the way they do it, but they definitely do!
