| If only we could sign Lunt then we would be a force to be reckoned with
All in all the squad looks stronger than at any point in recent years

| I agree we look very strong
Strength in depth particularly in the front row (which brings competition), size and a fair bit of quality.
Two potential areas for improvement would be a wide running back rower..... and a quality 9. These would certainly make us more certain bet for top 8
That said looking on paper the pack is as strong as those in and around us - we've certainly recruited far better than those in position 9-12
One thing I am excited about is thee pace in the backs of we get the right platform for miller, Sam and Finny. We've some serious speedsters

| I think we've a reasonably strong squad, the area which is of greatest for me is hooker, neither Finn or Wood are, for me, first choice hookers. Put Moore in that team and we'll be up competing for 6,7,8. Without Moore or the signing of a new hooker I think we could be in danger of the middle 8s. Just look at Leeds last year and the affect missing a hooker had on them.

Agree with this. You can have a pack as big and mobile as you want but with snails pace distribution from dummy half it negates it in fine style. I fear Finn isn't quick enough of the mark for this role, Wood could be Ok with the scooting away but I'm not sure about the his speed and accuracy of passing. Sio shouldn't be anywhere near hooker for me.
It's a vital position that that Muppet Moore has let us down on, otherwise I'd be very confident of a top 8 spot.

| Think Finns distribution from dummy half will be decent as starting hooker but in terms of running from the PTB he'll be slow....Wood will be good as impact hooker off the bench and his passing should be still decent if he's also being thought of as a back up 6 & 7...

| Strange but it doesn't seem that long ago that supporters on here couldn't stand the thought of Moore pulling on a Wakefield shirt.
Even when he scored the try against Bradford in the M P G he didn't get much credit.
Now he's the best thing that Wakefield could have hoped for.

| Put me in that camp Lampyboy, I was gutted when McShane left, I thought, and still do, that McShane is the real deal, a quality 9 with a great skill set. I did not at the time of the swap understand just what a good player Scott Moore is. There must have been good reason for the swap deal but at the time I felt we had got the rough end of the deal from a Rugby perspective. I have learnt from watching Scott Moore play that he is a quality player, I really enjoyed his attitude in defense and his creativity with ball in hand. That said it is apparent that off the field he is not fit for society.
I do not think Anakin can play hooker and I agree that without a specialist hooker we will not get the best out of the team, I do not think Sio is a 9 and certainly does not have the game to lead the team around the park and manage a game plan. I don`t remember Wood having any sort of creative passing game, he can scoot of the back of a quick play and thats about it. I think Finn will be the best option but like others have said his lack of pace will be shown up and the physical demands of the role will catch up with him but he is the only one with a good enough passing game.
I agree that in a perfect world we would be looking to replace Moore with proper 9

| I always thought Mc Shane's heart was not at Trinity. For me he was not fit and couldn't care less. I do agree that on his day he made a good no 9, but we didn't see enough of it.
Moore was a much more solid type of player and one that would show his true colours. Unfortunately he seems he'll bent on self destruction and I'm sure that's why he's applied his trade at so many clubs.
Wakefield been the place in the past were players like Moore could shine and if he realised that he could have provided himself and the club with a solid club member for a good number of seasons to come.
On reflection we would not have been looking for a hooker and could have spent the money elsewhere.
NOT TO WORRY THIS IS WAKEFIELD.

In case you haven’t worked it out I love to be contrary on here, be an agent provocateur if you will. Probably annoys the hell out of you all but without people like me this forum would end up as a back slapping community of people all repeating each other. So on many occasions I go against myself just to give things a spin and force the debate. I do this because that’s how I am, ho hum.
However what you are talking about drives me mental and on cue Belly proves my point.
We are unique at this club in adoring players only when they leave. Do you remember Belly praising MaShane before he left, I don’t!
He’s not alone, the number of players who have left this club who were barely noticed whilst playing but were the second coming on leaving is huge. Andy Ellis is a perfect example, he played ten yes ten games for us and was no better than Wood but on leaving it was as if the heart was ripped from the club according to some. It’s actually embarrassing to think some are openly pining for a relatively unsuccessful player as Ellis.
Yes there were genuine losses, Westwood, Ellis, Solomona and Brough spring to mind as players we couldn’t replace but McShane seriously ‘gutted’ that is a total lost grasp on reality.
Academy players are a tricky one and I think we’ve not treated them all as well as we should - however the fact that SL is not brimming over with Trinity youth products suggests the club was generally correct - however it’s very subjective and very very speculative in these cases. However they are the only exception IMHO.
Anyways all the above happens at all other clubs and if it didn’t two thirds of the best Trinity players of the last twenty years wouldn’t have joined us.
Moore is just such a case and I actually rate him but to suggest he is the difference between us and real success is utter crap - others can and will step in.
I find this self flagellation amongst certain fans nauseating in the extreme and shows an utter lack of regard for the current players which I’m certain they feel to a degree - how does that help the club?
To get hung up on the loss of Moore is bad enough if just about understandable to a small degree but to feel that way about a player like McShane who’s contempt for this club was always apparent beggars belief. There is IMHO a cult of the doomed that pervades this club at almost every level and for me it needs to go, preferably over the common to Cas where as it happens they have the opposite philosophy amongst there many fans.
For me defeatism has no place in life and certainly not in sport. It’s your choice if you wish to succumb I have no issue there but why linger about and infect others - that’s just malicious and shows a certain perverse pleasure on the part of the serial moaner.
We have our team it looks a decent one on paper so all we can do is support it, that in case folk don’t know is what we do - heaven forbid if we were actually seriously involved in the team!
Finally if people are so in love with Ellis, McShane or Big Frankie then you know where they are and you can go and watch them - nothings stopping you. For me though the two best 9’s in the business are Finn and Wood because they wear the R,W & B and the others don’t and certainly this season never will. I don’t give a stuff about Fatty McShane other than I hope he has one of his many crap games against us and that applies to them all.
The best Trinity players are the ones we have and it shouldn’t take a genius to work out the logic of that statement.
Rant over

| Never really cared for McShane and wasn't bothered when he went, he clearly though he was better than Wakefield and jumped shipped at the first opportunity . Moore has given us far greater impact and effort, despite some people labelling him a Cas reject when signed. Ran through some walls for us in his time here.

| McShane is better in attack.
Moore is much better in defence.
That is the end of the debate on that.
On another note, I notice that Liam Hood, Scotland's stand out star from the 4 Nations is third in the pecking order at Leigh next year behind Higham and Pelissier. I believe he is originally from our part of Yorkshire and has a young family. Is it worth Wakefield making a move for him?

| Moore is the best specialist 9 we've had in ages - but he's a flawed human being; which explains why he isn't still at a big club, being talked about in the same breath as Roby or more recently, Clark.
So we'll get another - and fans should support him; and that's all you can really do isn't it?

That the McShane that struggled to pass the ball backwards from the play of the ball?
If McShane had been the hooker in the MPG, we wouldn't be where we are now.
Moore's bit of individual brilliance at the end of that game was even condemned as a 'piece of luck' by some of our adoring fans.
As for Liam Hood, he will get loaned out somewhere else.
Would rather be vulture like and take a punt on O'Brien at Bradford.

I'd certainly say we have had the best recruitment as man for man we've improved on who's left where as other clubs haven't recruited as well as I'm sure they would have liked. I'm sure that's got a lot to do with finishing in the top 8 which allowed those extra 8+ weeks to get the feelers out and contracts agreed
Here's to another improving season!
