| Finn missing tough seemed to be the turning point but we just couldn't match the Cas pack.
We did well for 50 minutes but, as the second half went on Cas just became more and more dominant and conceding so many points in the second half was poor and the final score certainly flattered Cas.
Our bench looked light pre kick off and this was bourne out by the final score.
A disappointing afternoon and real concern as to whether we can assemble a strong enough team to compete with Wire next week.
Let's just hope that our physio staff have a large and effective supply of magic sponges.

| I was a big fan of Anthony Tupou at the start of the season and thought he had some really classy touches in the early games. I was really looking forward to seeing him play in the Summer months but his long injury has seen him miss quite a few games. Since his return he has looked absolutely knackered and doesn't look like he can last a game never mind grab one by the scruff of the neck. I haven't watched NRL for years so don't know whether he actually walks like his knees and hips look shot or whether they really are?

I don't think we handled anyone particularly well.
Fact is we should have blown Cas out of sight in the first 40 but we missed chance after chance. Cas were there for the taking - no doubt about that!
In true Trinity style though, our enthusiasm went against us and chances were missed. As the game went on, our half backs, behind a beaten pack were restricted in creating more chances and Cas took over.
Cas didn't have to be any more than ordinary (and aren't anyway) to win.
On balance they deserved to win although a better team would have thrashed both yesterday.

I'd say the turning point was the poor last tackle option and breakaway Cas try in the first half when we were 10-0 up. It totally lifted the team and fans. Up to then Cas didn't look like they had much in them.
Not finding touch in the second half pretty much killed our own chances of winning off. It was so infuriatingly typical of Wakefield; earn two penalties, not find touch with the second, concede a penalty, concede a try.

Like I said on the VT our players always crap themselves when playing Cas - it's just a habit we've got into recently since Powell took over your rabble.

To be fair I thought it was an even game until Trinity ran out of steam, it wasn't a case of crapping themselves, more so they were blowing out of their backside so couldn't handle the power or pace of Cas in the last twenty.

| I thought we were easily the better side for the full 1st half. That chance that Jowitt bombed with an open line and then Bill Tupou running into touch 10 metres out on the 1st tackle really let Cas off the hook. Ran out of bodies and ultimately steam in the last 20 minutes.
We get another chance in the Super Eights.

| We just didn't have the size. Fifita and Scruton were the only out and out props. Arona covering and Molloy covering too.
Molloy went down so we were then even lighter.
Fifita stayed on for long minutes and had a great game but when he went off for a rest they took a hold.
Tried our best but that wasn't our day. They worked out our weak point and hit it hard.
It won't be like that every time.
Need Anderson back with Fifita and Scruton for Warrington. Arona can then cover 4th prop without dropping intensity. Simon would be better if he was back.

| Just a special mention here regarding Arona.
He has been good for us this year. He can cover front and back row effectively, and like Sio and Ashurst, dont think he has missed a game for us since Chester came in. The only games I think he didnt play in were the wo earlier in the season when he was banned

I know , my point was more, if given the same draw I'd back us to be there too! That said, good luck on Saturday.

Size has been the issue all year for me which in a way is a compliment to the squad. We do need another big prop to help out Fifita (if he stops) and England but it's our S/R that really gets billie.
In Ashurst, Kirmond and Tupou we have 3 very similar players and all three are on the light side and none are overly pacey. Backing them up we have Anakin and we can all see the issue there and Molloy. None of them are line breakers and none are powerful enough to exhaust the opposition.
The minute I saw us and Cas warming up I feared the worse, I was quite surprised after 60 minutes to still be in it. It wasn't just the size issue, I think because we hadn't pulled away in the first half like we should have minds wandered towards next saturday and I think Cas twigged that.

Strength in depth - might not be owt to do with it. You could put it down to Powell been a better "polisher" than Chester maybe ?

Last Sunday had more to do with being down to 1 interchange with 3 forwards injured.
We'll see you in the Super 8's but, if we manage a win against Warrington on Sunday, our team may be even weaker than it was on Sunday

Well that's disappointing, I thought that after all the boasting from your mates how you'd beaten us with your reserve team, you at least had come on here to apologise for some of your fans behaviour with the flares on Sunday, especially as you were one of them with the most to say when it happened at your place, apparently not

| I have no doubt that he will make a very good full back and is still to develop but i am concerned by his one on one tackling misses. I know he pulled one off this weekend when Castleford made a break but sadly he can be brushed off or side stepped which I hope is down to his age.
I know what I am saying to some will be blasphemy but it is just an observation and is a problem that all the incumbents have been susceptible to.

I think that's super critical for a 19 year old player - yes he has missed a few but I can name you a fair few far more experienced SL FB's who miss far more. Even if he didn't get any better than he is now he'd still be a very useful player.
Hell the ginger doormat otherwise known as Kris Radlinski was a GB International and our very own Shaggy Halpenny put him on his twice in one game in 2004 and that was fairly regular for golden by Kris - and don't even get me started on that chalatan Tomkins!

| Jowitt solid under high ball and positionally very strong for such a young lad. Just needs to develop a bit more of an evasive ability when joining the line 'cos he gives himself up or doesn't back himself enough. His support play is pretty solid.
But in 3 or 4 years he is going to be outstanding if he keeps it up.
