I understand that Council will not be providing any financial assistance for any potential bidder, unless its the mosque bid that wins then apparently they will assist with funding for a study , library and community , sounds good. Apparently Oliver Rowley sees it as a very positive project that will have a positive effect in bringing the communities of Wakefield together

So York court/trust in conjunction with council are looking to purchase the ground boundaries and super bowl. Another group has bid for the super bowl to be turned into a mosque with funding from the council. Or is it the same bid? A study centre library and community centre can be incorporated in the new east stand at the community stadium can't it.

Well I heard that Boris is behind a plan to build the next London airport on the river Calder. I have never read so much unsubstantiated rubbish, but yet others add to it. We now have a councillor whose husband might or might not support Halifax only willing to put council money which she is not responsible for in the building of a mosque.
I know we like to play the down trodden card with everyone against us, but where we are is down to us and it is up to us to move forward without continually putting out the begging bowl because no one is interested anymore. We do not help ourselves with our performances on the field or the state we have allowed the ground and surrounding area get into.

Could be wrong but i believe the bid is just for the ground, not the superbowl site at this stage. Two seperate agents, two seperate bidding processes should the first one be successful.

A Mosque in place of the Superbowl would certainly devalue the ground as far as future building land. The ground would instantly be inside the Ghetto rather than on the edge.

This must not be connected because why would you use your own money when the council are willing to fund one for you according to what someone was told on here. I am surprised anyone believes what a newspaper writes because I go with unfounded hearsay any day.

Blimey even I'm.stunned by this mosque development.

There must be something good for the club off it tho? Maybe we could cut costs on the half time hooter and time it with the call for prayers.

Surely the super bowl site would be needed for any ground development, both in terms of increased parking and giving some space for ground re development.

If ANY other party acquires part of the site either for a mosque anything else, we are largely back to square one.

I have spoken to the architect who was commissioned to draw up the plans for the Mosque and associated development, the plans are for the complete site ie Super Bowl and BV, the finance for the development comes from the interest free Muslim Sharia Bank / Finance system, which is a fantastic ` lender ` as it is against their faith to charge interest. So if you are able to tap into this funding you have a fantastic head start on the competition. Apparently Ccl Rowley and the local community leaders have facilitated all the necessary introductions. Don`t` you just wish we had people on the council Cabinet or Councillors or council officers who would fight our corner as well as Rowley fights for the Community of Agbrigg and BV.

What happened to the clause that an alternative ground had to be built if BV was to be no more

Is it also against their faith to pay taxes?i.e don't pay in just take out.

As someone who used to work and live in Middle East, correct it is against Islam to charge interest but this is more than compensated with bank "charges". That is how Islamic banks make money. It may be an "interest" free loan but the total cost of the loan is more than that borrowed, if you get my gist.

Apparently If the Mosque developers and Rowley are successful with the bid and agree the purchase of BV then the council are confident that the new community facilities that will be built alongside the Mosque will comply with the need for ` leisure ` facilities and circumvent any existing covenants on BV.
Add to that I cannot for the life of me see our directors keeping the club in Wakefield if Rowley gets her wish.

Well wouldn't it be fantastic news for the people of Agbrigg -another mosque!
The ultimate insult in my opinion if that comes off and yet more proof, if we need it, that we will stand for anything in this country.

I would guess they rent would rise again sharply at the next annual review and make it in MC's eyes untenable. Once we move out of the area voluntarily though then it weakens our case regarding the planning restrictions.

Lets hope it doesn't come to that and we are the winning bid.

The biggest word there is IF. Surely even our council after messing the section 106 up wouldn't back at mosque been built and bypass the existing covenants on Belle Vue unless it's part of a bigger picture ie releasing funds for Newmarket or community stadium elsewhere in the City. All ifs and buts until we see something official

It's the bowling alley that is the proposed new Mosque. The two bits of land are totally separate. Nobody else is interested in the Rugby Ground bit.

If the building of a council supported mosque comes off at the expense of the tradition and heritage that is Trinity ,it really will reflect the sad state our country is in. I am no racist but believe in fairness and not privileges for certain sectors of society.If I get banned from this forum so be it. Too long in the tooth to care.

Well hopefully our bid York Court Club/trust in conjunction with the council is a good one and won't be refused, we will see how see how serious the bids were and are we seriously about a community stadium at Belle Vue or will it be Newmarket

If plans go belly up again what the hell do trinity do from there???? It's all on a knifes edge !!
