They actually offered us players to put on the park.

| I'd rather bring Sykes back and stick him with Smith while Godinet and McShane interchange, or bring back one of our own in Matty Wildie or James Davey to spel McShane. Howarth will be an equivalent signing to Miller = ineffectual.

Must be the office cat making the player decisions now, feel that he/she needs a pay rise, an extra large portion on fish Friday.

But didn't change the dynamics of the team.
Griffin played two or three games, did Hand even play?
Howarth can free up players to get more out of what we have.

That was my worry, they have been interested in him for a while. I also have to ask why this would be happening now before the coach comes in? As for Howarth himself he is a sticking plaster kind of player when others have short term injuries, not someone who you want playing at hooker week in week out. His distribution is painfully slow and neither is it particularly accurate. Any advantage of having Godinet on the field more would be mitigated by having him distributing the ball from dummy half.

| I'd like to think that rather than offloading McShane that Howarth is to work beside him, allowing McShane to be spelled, this would allow Godinet to play beside Smith.

| Deary me, Howarth is one of the worst Super League hookers I have ever seen. I was amazed he got a deal with Hull at the start of the season, so no surprise to see he is no surplus to requirements. A Championship standard player at best, not what Wakefield need.

If we believe the rumours, both Hull clubs' have shown interest in him and both clubs have shown in the past that they have the spending power and are not afraid to do so, McShane is out of contract at the end of the season and in all honesty can even the most optimistic of our supporters see him re-signing for us I certainly can't, without knowing the in's and out's of the situation i.e McShanes feelings atm Carters view on the situation and the temp coach's as well it would be nearly impossible to make any sense of it, but nothing would surprise me whatever the outcome.

| Christ. The lads not even got here yet, IF he is coming, and hes already not wanted.
Also, with no mention on either Ashurst or Ali and their injuries, maybe hes coming in to cover loose, whilst Washy covers back row?

When he played for us he was easily one of our better players and did more in half a season than Wildie or Davy managed in years. The reason Salford pounced for him was because of the form he showed with us which in turn must have carried on as Saints who don't generally buy rubbish.
He's no world beater but to dismiss him just like that shows you up.
I'd love to know what sort of players you're expecting to join a leaky ship - please don't say Wildie.

| It would be disappointing if this was the catalyst to release either McShane or Godinet, because Howarth is not a patch on either at hooker.
If not though I think he could do us a very good job at loose forward, which I think is his natural position. Tackles very well, is mobile and has decent handling skills.
The lad is certainly not the worst player in the world, as some seem to think

| For me, Howarth's short kicking game was pretty good. Bit weak defending wide out but no worse than many of our current crop and certainly an all round better option going forward than Kavanagh, Griffin or Hand.

Howarth (21) played more games than Davey (19) did for us and not far off Wildie (30) a lot of which was off the bench, so why is he any less one of our own?

A bit quick off the mark here aren't yer, one Wakey fan and one Salford fan does not rate him, plus a couple what are a bit cool on him coming, and all of a sudden there's a campaign against him according to you.

Very simplistic way of looking at things.
Just because a team aren't performing well together on the pitch doesn't mean that team isn't filled with quality players.

Very good point.
Lets look at this another way, Players like anyone else in life like to feel secure. What if the club have been very slow to sign up any of our lads who don't have a contract beyond next season. If so , who can blame them for not wanting to get a contract.
You could also take this a little further, lets suppose the vast majority of our squad are leaving for pastures new. To me this would answer many of the questions about the performance of the team.

| I guess the plan is to sign a duel registration agreement with Hull the way it is going. I do not remember anyone being disappointed when he was not offered a contract and now we are to accept that he will make a difference.
I have witnessed some bad seasons but this one is the worst I have known both on and off the field.
