Whys it unfortunate the first 8 games he was utter dross do you want to continue watching dross thank god sykes came in all i can say !!!

Paul Taylor was fantastic for 20 mins.

No he wasn't utter dross imo, he was much like the rest of the side at the start of the season, lacked consistency & were finding their feet.

I believed and I still do, that he showed glimpses of class and could become a very good player for us if given the game time. Remember he's a young guy with not a lot of first grade experience when he came here and like a lot of player that come over from that side of the world can take some time to show what kind of players they are, so It's not as black & white as you like to paint it, as usual.

The problem with him is that he takes up a quota spot and a player who could become a very good player in a season or two is not a great use of that spot.

Give the lad a break!

I would not say Issac John was dross just not good enough for SL but could go well at championship.I didnt see anything to make me think otherwise in the games he played and yes I could be wrong but very much doubt it.

He's too good for championship, just needs some first team time in a gelled team rather than what he actually got, I watched a lot of academy games and he was totally on a different level than most of his team mates also defensively he easily coped in academy games and kicking game (in general play) was very good.



I say Mr Agar give the lad a chance



BTW I watched Paul Aitons younger brother playing for Sharlston yesterday and he looks a good prospect

Isaac would be ideal to give 20 mins to in one or 2 of the pre-season games, especially if Smith is playing.
If Sykes gets crocked (or banned) we will need some cover and in pre season, there is nothing to lose bg Mr Agar giving him a go ?

Up at Thornhill? Young lad putting some big hits in? Wondered who he was, he can certainly tackle!

Issac came off at the end as clean as he was when he came on and I still dont see him as SL standard.

20yrs old,was talking to paul yesterday about the Sharlston v Dewsbury Moor game last week,looked ok playing at hooker,supposedly going to Dewsbury when his work visa is sorted.

Yep made a pont of watching him - got stuck in but didn't do anything spectacular - got about 20 minutes game time when we had no possession.

Its a real shame for this lad,agar went to Aus/NZ and he was one of his finds, expectation came with him as a potential Rangi Chase im sure he has the talent but not SL standard yet,Maybe could be dual reg at a partner club.To think he is too good for the championship is putting rugby leagues 2nd tier down.Isaac John would blossom playing senior rugby week in week out.Maybe its part of his Cooke island deal to be at a SL club.

I'm pretty sure he was signed before Agar went to Oz last winter? I'm pretty sure he was in the first batch of signings that Elston made.

I think Isaac deserves some game time this season to prove himself. Felt pretty harsh on the lad as he got hyped up for no real reason before he came and everyone expected big things. Then he kind of got made a bit of a scapegoat by some for our slow start to last season and didnt feature at all after that hardly, but i dont think everyone was firing on all cylinders at that point either. I think he could come good if Agar is willing to give him some game time, but how will he fit in unless Sykes gets injured?

The lad is simply not good enough for top flight rugby and doesn't look like being so anytime soon, watched him against Feath and the only thing I recall him doing was shooting out of the line and missing a tackle. Best for both parties if we let him go.

Isaac John may not yet be SL standard and I have to admit I had serious doubts about him last year but I still think there is potential there. Perhaps a spell at Doncaster would be beneficial?
In any event wrtiting him off before the season has started is unproductive.
He may well prove a valuable assett as the season progresses.

I don't really understand the need to get rid of him.
Not everyone in the squad can play in the 13/17 but we have all said that if anything happens to Tim Smith we would be stuffed so having a better quality backup at half back is actually quite valuable. And something most teams below the top 4 don't have.
If we ever decided to move Sykes to another position as he is quite capable, I wouldn't be dreading John playing again. He has skills there is no doubt about that, he just has some holes too.
He can pass a wide ball as well as anyone. Cockayne benefited on a number of occassions.
He got some of his criticism for his goal kicking last time and that will no longer be an issue to him either so he can concentrate on just playing.
Going out on DC is an option but he will be a massive asset to a lower league team if he does. He is quite capable of playing Super League, just not one of the best players in Super League.

I'd also say that with Agar and Webster as coaches, I'd like to think his game has improved in the off season. I guess we'll see.

Not being in anyway racist but, if he wasn't a quota player, he would be an excellent player to bring on.
The only issue is whether we could, or would, bring another overseas player in, if such a player was available.
