Regarding other fans at games. There were a group of 8 Fev fans at the Wakey/Cas game last Friday. Not saying they did anything wrong but I know them and know they were at the game.

| Quote ="Tigerade"Correct. The management (or should that be mismanagement) of the game is entirely down to Wakey. I know a few Cas fans who sustained facial injuries on Friday night. I have seen the photo's and they have been sent to the RFL along with countless E-mails and video footage from the game.
The RFL enquiry will also be looking at Glovers attempt to segregate the fans, his subsequent climb-down after Wrights intervention and the legality of selling tickets and changing the entrance policy.
The stewards report and Match Commissioner's report should make good reading - 38 kicked out of the ground apparently. A touch judge coined and beer glasses thrown from the Benedorn flats.'"
To be fair some Wakefield fans were injured as well. And they weren't all Wakefield fans kicked out either though were they? Both clubs will cop it for this incident as both sets of fans were to blame. Wakefield will get an extra carpetting because of the failed segregation issue and both CEO's will be asked why the whole pre-match issue was played out on club websites rather than discussed in person. Neither team will come out of it looking good and quite frankly neither should they.
Part of the problem is the pettiness between Elston & Wright, it needs sorting and now. Both are as bad as each other and need to grow up.

| I think the segregation was mostly to blame. It created far too much of an 'Us versus Them' atmosphere. It's no problem segregating fans at opposite ends of the field, but in the same stand...??? A recipe for disaster.

Not true, as pointed out by sixtogo.
You're at risk of getting dizzy if you stay up on that high horse too long; the situation at BV on Friday night was a result of several errors of judgement and some idiotic behaviour from a small minority of drunken morons - nothing more, nothing less.
Both clubs should receive a rap on the knuckles for their failures to communicate properly in the lead-up to the game. WTW made some hasty decisions but probably for the right reasons; Dickie Wright stoked the flames by making a statement on his own website that amounted to "We're Castleford and we'll stand where we want." Equally, the governing body made a poor decision to stage an evening match on a bank holiday.
Given WTW's previously impeccable record for crowd behaviour, I'd feel a bit aggrieved if we get a fine; sometimes, the best you can do when something goes wrong is learn from it, rather than playing the blame game.

Well it is true HTH.
Selling "general admission" tickets then making them not general admission is in fact illegal and false advertising.

Wrong again. General admission means you can stand anywhere unless that area is reserved. So theortically if WTW want to reserve an area for their fans they can. If you had have bought tickets that said 'North Stand' on them and then was refused entry for no good reason then that would be illegal.

I wonder what Elston means by "the clubs zero tolerance policy to unacceptable behaviour."
wakefieldwildcats.co.uk/news/wil ... n/2012/04/
To date my view on zero tolerance this season has been harsher than the one by the club and stewards so far. Let's hope times are a changing.

and now you'll point me to where it was stated that away fans were not allowed in other areas. The initial release was poorly worded, but it never said that away fans were not allowed in other parts of the ground. This was clarified at about exactly the same time as Dicky Wrights dummy spit on a public website. If his legal team are so effective, maybe he should save some of that money and spend it on players? I did notice that when his statement was reported in the press they missed out the 'legality' references.
Quote Castleford Tigers fans will only be able to enter the Rapid Solicitors Stadium through the turnstiles on Doncaster Road (see map below) and will be directed to either the Eastern terrace along the side of the pitch or the North East corner of the stadium as per their choosing.
The remainder of the North Stand will occupied by home supporters and stewards will be on hand to monitor this.'"
This is unclear, particularly in relation to what 'monitor this' refers, hence the clarification, no change in the intended meaning. Does it specifically say they will not be allowed in other parts of the ground?
Also are you sure that the tickets were for 'general admission' rather than ground admission, not that it matters as away fans always had access to all areas.
P.S. ooh, I got a bite from the Gronkmeister.

| Quote ="Tigerade"The bit in the RFL press release states the investivation will be looking at how the match was managed. I think the following will come out of this investigation:-
1. No more evening/night kick-off's for Cas/Wakey and Wakey/Cas games.
2. Bar's in the ground to close during the game.
3. A designated "away" stand at the RS Stadium.
4. A fine for not controlling the crowd's behavior.
Regarding the fine - we have had it at Cas Tigers. You don't get any warning. I think it will be between 20 and 40 grand I'm afraid. Ours was for a home game against Catalans. Plastic bottles were thrown onto the pitch. The big difference between the Cas/Catalan game and the Wakey/Cas game is that no-one was injured at the Tigers game.'"
Really and under what authority will the RFL to impose such sanctions? The only one I could see out of that lot is number 4. The others would potentially discriminate against the club its sponsors and its fans.

| Reading through some of these posts, it looks to me that some Castleford fans still feel aggrieved about being punished by the RFL for their fines regarding homophobic chants and bottles being thrown at an official and see this as an opportunity to try to make Wakefield look bad in the press to deflect from there own problems.
Lets just hope rather than point scoring, we actaully identify these people and ban them from going to Castleford or Wakefield and we learn from what happened so it's never repeated

| How can tickets be general admission .
If so all and sundry would be able to sit in member seats in the east stand.
If a club were not able to exclude supporters from certain areas chaos would reign.
The club acted with the best of intentions.
What is wrong with advising as to people where the to stand to avoid what actually happened.
The solution is simple and not too expensive.
Erect a fence each side and rear of north stand.
I remember there used to be fences surrounding the old south stand and a transfer fee had to be paid to gain entry.
I do not advocate that but surely home supporters should have the option to pay a reasonable surcharge to gain entry to north stand in advance and members have automatic entry.
.

| Drunken idiots were solely to blame for what happened last Friday. Yes things could have been handled differently by various parties but the only ones who were 100% responsible for the trouble are those that chose to get involved. It's not a cas issue it's not a Wakey issue it's an idiots who can't take their beer problem.

Think all clubs have a small minority like this....they plan a "session" around a game, get tanked up hours in advance...can't handle it and unfortunately what they do (and what we see) is similar to what you get in any town or city centre late at night anywhere in the country...except its the clubs that suffers.

| Quote ="Wildcatfan"Not good last night on a few fronts:
I was standing right beside the trouble in the middle section of the North Stand - right at the back. We got to the ground early ( 6.15 ) because we were expecting a large turnout and we wanted to get a decent spot. Not many Cas fans there when we arrived and the ones that were there stood in the far corner where they had been asked to. As kick off got nearer more and more visiting fans began spreading further across and before long had taken half of the stand. Chav corner and the West terrace took a while to fill up as did the East stand. Seems most wanted to take advantage of the new roof - new atmosphere. From my point of view the whole atmosphere changed when the Cas fans started chanting 'we'll stand where we want'. All of a sudden I just got a gut feeling something would happen. More and more chants and singing, all harmless, until the game actually started. Certain Wakefield fans began congregating towards the middle of the stand whilst on the other side the Cas fans were doing exactly the same. There cant of been more than 3/4 stewards then initially but within 5 mins there were another 10 or so forming a line between the fans. More chants, more singing until the opening try. I cant honestly remember which side threw the first bottle but what I do know is both sides were throwing as much as the other. Plastic bottles, plastic pint pots......whatever......its just wrong. Neither side can come out of this well. Our so called supporters were trying to get through the stewards line to reach the Cas fans whilst they were just stood yards away goading and inviting trouble. The stewards were fantastic and had it not been for them the scenes would have been horrendous. Thats a fact. Our group of 8 stayed and refused to move until one of our party was hit with a bottle and about 10 mins into the second half a glass or bottle was thrown into the roof above the Wakefield fans and shattered glass fell down over a number of people. At this point it was a no brainer and we moved away before calling it a night with still 20 mins left on the clock. It was more like a scene from the bad old days in the 80's when football hooligans would have a tear up. Nothing ive ever seen before at Belle Vue since started going over25 years ago.
This City is ours slogan is harmless. If people think this is a cause of the problem - get real.
Lets go North is a fantastic idea. The atmosphere before and just after kick off was superb. But it HAS to be 100% Wakefield fans only in that stand. Segregation is a must and we have to follow the ways of other clubs and keep opposing fans apart. Im not having this 'Rugby League Family' and its a family game etc etc. It might of been years ago but it certainly isnt anymore. Yes - its a shame but times change and unfortunately Rugby League has also changed on and off the park. Keep the away fans down either side. If chav corner is becoming an issue give the Western terrace to the away sides and let the home fans stand togther behind the sticks !
The club are really trying to turn things around and the past few months have been better than the last 10 years. In hindsight, we could have done things differently last night and I have no doubt that major lessons have been learnt but lets move on now. We cant change what happened but we can prevent them from happening again. Deal with the issues from last night and put it to bed. Get the right things in place for the visit of Salford. Away fans to be given their own area. But the North Stand must be ours - completely.'"
I kind of know what you are saying but I was almost certain there would be trouble. I said so to the Hull KR and Hull fans I work with, during our Thursday chats about our RL weekends, as I live in Beverley. The reasons I cited were; the club have a This City is ours slogan, the fans site is encouraging 'Let's go north' on the worst possible 1st night against rivals we don't have a good relationship with, and its a tight, dark, unsegregated stand. 70's style, late KO bank hol....it was all of it together that helped to cause the problem and tediously predictable in my view.
