Yep that sums it all up but don't expect that to be good enough for some who'll whinge about anything.

Totally agree with you, Catalans will always be a sucess because its in the Heartland, PSG on the other hand was never gonna work. I don't see whats wrong with us being a regional sport, help the heartland clubs and then expand into areas of close proximity to the Heartlands-Cumbria, Staffordshire, Licolns.
Fingers crossed for ya

He hasn't done anything wrong; he did what any sensible professional would do in the same situation. Was he gritting his teeth and wishing he could say what he really felt? Probably, but if he had done that, he'd have been rightly villified for further jeopardising our already slim chances of getting a reprieve for next season.
The OP and those who agreed with him and/or used this dozy thread as a jumping off point for personal attacks on JE (and his wife - wtf did that come from?!) should probably apologise; it's all a bit embarassing really.

| Im with you Fergus and ngb4c we need positivity, I've been saying it all along. If they go on our application we should be a B which in essence should make us safe. As I've said before if we go (excluding cru and quins) cas should come with us, the other option is keep us both in (my preference obviously) but review us both in 12 months time with leigh and fax waiting in the wings to take our spots if promises are broken.

| Can't see why people are having a pop at JE without him AG would not have taken over. Elston went from convincing AG not to pull out his sponsorship to buying the club! He's obviously not wanting to upset the rfl in his latest statement and who can blame him, theres a lot of peoples futures at stake here and hes trying his damnedest to try and safeguard those peoples futures.

| On reflection I may have been a little harsh to start this thread, I was just that mad to see one of our main men praising the positives of a system that is going to shaft us!
Great article in the evening post, especially the point about not been the weakest application amongst the 14. It’s shame he never pushed this point the League Weekly article it’s that, that got me so wound up.

If we do get kicked out it will be soley on the ground/stadium issue. I don't really see how anyone linked to our community work has done anything but add to our chances of staying in. Personal issues (?) clouding the facts here maybe?

Who says we are going to get shafted, the majority of people just assume that we are, Maybe James Elston is privvy to imformation which says it different to what most are thinking, and if that's the case then it's understandable why he's said what he has said and not said what you think he should have said

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know."
I think that sums it up

| What else was he supposed to say? He has to be seen to be in support of the process whether he believes in it or not.
Although if you believe Robbie Paul on the superleague show then the RFL decided a month ago who was for the chop so it hardly matters what he says now anyway.

The one that sticks out for me is the last one;
[i =#FF0000When will the clubs find out?
The clubs will learn their fate on Tuesday July 26 at 11.00am when Richard Lewis reveals the board’s decision at the media conference. Immediately after the announcement, the RFL will contact each individual club with details of their grading and to set up a meeting at which they will receive detailed feedback on their licence application. The RFL will not make public summaries of all the applications until the feedback process with the clubs is completed. [/i
Last time around the clubs had an email sent to them in the morning of the license announcement, it seems this time they are letting them stew until the last minute. I wonder if its going to be done alphabetically again.

If it is then once it gets past H we will probably know our fate one way of the other. I think they should announce them in order of grading - but then they might have some difficulty in explianing why Crusaders are above us.
The other interesting bit is it seems to indicate that after they have shared the assessment details with the clubs, they may well then be made public

Surprise surprise, so we are not going to hear publicly how they came about there decision! Of course they don't want to look foolish in front of national TV, I'm sure they will just leave it to the Sky presenters give a distorted version of reality!

They'll go public with the summaries of the assessments, mate, not the details. That would be suicide.

| This bit is interesting:
"Licensing is designed to ensure:
The impact of the Super League is broadened beyond its traditional heartlands, and the development of the league in strategically significant areas is continued."
In other words, the expansion clubs are guaranteed a license?
And also:
"...a perceived A Grade club (for example 5,000 season ticket holders, audited turnover of at least £4 million, no insolvency event between 2008 and 2010)."
So they only count season ticket holders? was the 1873 lottery just a ruse and a money making scheme? Not against it, but if the members don't count?
Was our "insolvency" in 2011?

Do you really need to ask that question, IMHO the answer is yes it may well be a ruse - but don't say owt because some on here demand total submission to the new regime. Like you I'm not against it I just think it's a bit to obvious.

JE said it counted towards, if it doesn't he lied plain and simple.
Not submissive that at all.
For the dictionary definition of submissive following, google Vastman and Ted and it will give you all the details.
In case you haven't noticed, we may well be out of SL shortly and if we are we know where much of the blame lies, I find it very strange that you are so bolshy now and so quick to defend back then, the person that has put us so far behind the blackball.
You really are a first class fool.
