There's something I don't get about the franchise rules. Widnes were told earlier this year that they were coming up so that they had enough time to build a squad for next season. But the club who are dropping down only find out in July, leaving them with even less time to assemble players for the following year. And if all Super League contracts are invalid should a side drop out, that club will have virtually no chance at all of being competitive as any decent player will already have a contract with a club who know which league they will be in. And I can't see many players offering to stay on reduced terms, unless they aren't much cop either.

Under the old P & R system you had even less time to assemble a squad for the Championship. Whoever gets demoted will have all August and September as extra months to prepare. Salford and Cas didn't seem to struggle getting a side together so I can't see why Wakey would.

Much easier I'd suggest to keep the nucleus of a team together on a one year get back up contract , with the guarantee of a further FT contract after that

Wakey's youth will be your main asset - players like Annekin, Vievers, Moore. These, coupled with a few old heads.

Same goes for Cas Thompson Holmes Massey Owen wil be your main assets.

Best bet is Sod SL and adopt a whole new mind set. Youth is your policy. Get the good uns signed on long deals, and if they're any good at least you'll get some wonga for em - i.e. Briggsy, Hardacre. and in the meantime you'll have had at least 2 good seasn out of them!

Whats to say we will be in the championship for 2 seasons. If we do go down it will only be until Newmarket is built keep academy and award winning community team as it is. A nice parachute payment a season with not as much running costs allowing AG to concentrate on getting all other aspects of the club up to scratch then back in Super League playing in a brand new stadium that our City and club deserves with Wakefield Trinity in better shape than ever.

Then the next to bottom and next to next to bottom go down, Unless the next to bottom or next to next to bottom have been awarded a licence in place of the team comin g down from SL then they go up and the next to bottom and the nextothenext to the bottom go down! A club losing its license when already a full time outfit and with better franchise application than other clubs is unpresedented. There will be a few twists and turns and if we do go down with Newmarket on the horizon and everything been run alot better than before you never know what might happen. The RFL have said they want a strong Wakefield in Super League
