| Quote ="Tricky2309" I was under the impression our historic tax bills were nothing to do with image rights, that matter has yet to be resolved.
Also, when comparing the past and previous owners. To my knowledge Mr Glover did not manage to sell the ground for GBP 2.8m only for the club to see approximately half that figure with no explanation as to where the rest went.'"
I was under the impression that it was related to Image Rights, only to find out later that it wasn’t. It was still historic, apparently the case officer was going through the accounts after the first winding up order in 2009 and found extra liabilities. The bill which finally undid the club earlier this year was from not paying any tax in the run up to the winding up order in the autumn.
Regardless the new administration will not have to face the Image Rights tax bill.

Mr Glover is not running a club with a huge debt owed to the inland revenue. A bill built up due to the faulty belief amongst all SL that they would get away with image right payments.
Mr Glover did not build the flats and the pull off the deal of the century to keep them after the CVA. Nor did he build the half decent toilet facilities we now have, or the crash barriers around the ground, or the bottle bar, the Wildcat shop, the new turnstiles and the list goes on. He also didn't pay the last time the floodlights were upgraded in 2006.
I'm not defending Richardson or attacking Glover but some perspective please. The fact is Glover has a clean slate and as yet has not had to spend any serious money at all. Lets see how enthusiastic he still is in 3-4 years time when the bills are stacking up again - and they will.
I'm not having a go at you in particular but this new messiah stuff with Glover is getting very tiresome. He's done nothing wrong, trouble is he's actually done nothing major yet. Many RL clubs especially us have been taken down the garden path before.
Untill we get definite clarification regarding our long term future especially Newmarket I'd hold fire. You only have to look at clubs like Rochdale and Oldham and many more to see how badly things can go from very promising starts.'"
Ill defend Mr Glover, the tax thing your just plain wrong about. The flats if you want people to whoop at the fact the club went into admin, and ripped of a creditor for the flats then your have no class.
As for the other changes, Ted had income for umpteen years to pay for those few changes, and in most cases will have done so begrudgingly after pressure from health and safety or the RFL.
Oh and also how many of Teds improvements did he actually pay for, and how many were written off with the administrations.
Where as MR glover will have had virtually no income yet, and is already starting to make improvements so I can not see how you can compare the two.
To sum up GLOVER = PROACTIVE TED = REACTIVE

The £2.8M never exixted it was just a figure on a bit of paper. I know Ted promised it but he never could pay up because he never had the money. So basically we got £1.7M for the ground end of.
As for Mr Glover I am with Vasty on this, he has tinkered around a little and made a few minor improvements but thats it. Also don't forget the removal of the wages of Sam,Millard and Fergy from the playing staff has probably saved him more than he has actually spent so far. So like I said on a previous thread, the jury is still out for AG.

It had nothing to do with the image rights bill, that figure for any club will not be known until the conclusion of the test case between the HMRC and Leeds Rhinos. What took us down was a historical unpaid tax bill. The image rights issue would have been still to come.

TBH Billy, results are a lot better than we hoped for in light of our off field shenanagins over the past few months, so added to the matchday improvements that have been applied, we're relatively happy in wakeyworld. A few signings and some good news on the ground and we may reach critical mass!!
Now looking at the back page of my League Express and six points from 10 and down in 6th position, hows everything in "LoinerLand"? Steadily slipping backwards if you ask me!!

As far as I'm aware Leeds is a different Tax office. Leeds have chosen to contest it, we didn't. Our problem was that we couldn't get terms from HMRC when we were hit with the last bill which we simply couldn't pay it in one go. That is why we were wound up.
Clearly the image rights is only a part of it but it's the part that sent us over the edge. Of course the people who told me are almost certainly liars whilst your source is beyond reproach.

| The tax bill that finished us off had nothing to do with image rights. No rugby league clubs have paid or will pay this bill until the test case involving the Rhinos is resolved. Due to our administration we do not owe any of this image rights tax anymore.

Where have you got this from - it's not what I was told. However so many of you seem to think it's the case I'd like to know then I can question my source just to be certain.
Also, not saying for certain it was that particular bill, it's an accumulation of tax bills that did it. As far as I'm aware we knew the figure and simply couldn't pay it in full when it was due. Hardly matters whether we ever paid it or received the actual bill, once Newmarket went to enquiry there was never a chance. That was the gamble and the club received some very poor advice on that or perhaps like folk on here they believed what suited them.
However the fact remains that the new club and Mr Glover have no such worries so replacing a few bulbs is hardly up there with Abromovich.

So if the final tax bill that took us over the edge was to do with image rights, why were there references made to it including unpaid VAT (James Elston made reference to that in the last few weeks before the end of Ted). Explain to us not versed in accounting, tax issues and business as you so clearly are. How does an HMRC bill incurred by none payment of taxation on image rights (your words Vastman) come to be subject to unpaid VAT?
