| Hi Guys long time reader first time poster, i sent mine off on thursday and got a reply from Cllr John Stone heres what he said.
Richard,
The three of us wholeheartedly support the development of a rugby stadium for the Wildcats at Newmarket and have always done so. Sporting facilities are so important for the City and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in particular.
Regards,
John Stone.

| Just got a reply from Cllr Bryan Denson ...
" I have spoken many times to the Chairman of the supporters club and other supporters of Wakefield Trinity during the past few years and I have always supported the efforts of the local club and its needs to enable Trinity to play in the top flight Rugby League. By implication I have always supported the need for a new ground and in the past have also tried to offer solutions to the Council in helping to resolve this problem. most of which fell on deaf ears.
My view remains the same and I support any application that will deliver the new ground.
I am mindful of the position that the local residents close to the Newmarket site find themselves in should the ground go ahead. The ground itself would not be such a problem but the warehouses and business park that will dwarf the stadium is another matter and the disruption to the local residents will be great.
The Newmarket site will be ideal for the purpose required by Trinity and I will continue to support this if no other alternative can be offered to the club.
Best regards
Councillor Bryan Denson "

| Just sent my 3 off
Quote As a resident of your ward I am writing to express my support for the development of a stadium and other facilities at Newmarket Lane and hope that you will be supporting the application also.
Clearly as an avid Wakefield Trinity supporter I am hoping that this stadium gets the go ahead as it would go a long way towards securing the long term future of the club. This is a club that I have supported for many years and am now getting the opportunity to start taking my 2 young boys to games with me. Wakefield Trinity is the only professional sporting club in the city and gives Wakefield an identity. I am proud to come from Wakefield and pleased that when telling people where I do come from that a large percentage of them know our city for its Rugby League heritage.
As a father as well, I am behind this development for the overall sporting facilities that it would offer to the people of the city as well. I am sure you will agree that presently the sporting facilities on offer to the residents of Wakefield are not satisfactory.
Whilst I also understand the concern of some local residents I believe that the developer has put many plans in place to minimise the disruption that will be caused to those people while at the same time providing our city with employment opportunities and economic growth.
Bearing in mind all the potential benefits on offer I would hope that you will be encouraging colleagues and fellow councillors to put their weight behind this project.
I look forward to your views on this matter.
Kind regards
'"

| Here's mine:
Quote I understand the above is due to be considered for outline planning permission 22/10/10. As a voting member of your ward I would like to express my strong support for the development.
Firstly, speaking as someone who was recently made redundant, the development would surely create jobs and boost the city’s economy which would be of benefit to all residents.
Secondly, speaking as a father to three young children, I understand that central to the development is the construction of a community stadium available for all to use. In the current climate of childhood obesity and also kids loitering on streets drinking, the facilities on offer may steer children in a more worthwhile direction.
Finally, speaking as a long suffering Wakefield Trinity Wildcats supporter, the club is desperately needs the stadium in order to survive. Without any professional sports team in the city, there will be little to inspire young people in to sport and physical activity. The region will also miss the hard work which the club do at schools and community level.
Please do whatever you can to help the development get the planning permission it deserves. I’m sure the project will provide a major boost to the entire area.

As Al says - we want you to contact YOUR councillor. They all sit on the council and several of them are on the planning committee as well.
Be passionate and emotional - say what the club means to you personally!

| Sent mine off 10 days ago and got responses a few days later. Two of the Councillors, Ros Lund and Olivia Rowley e-mailed me back both saying they were not a member of the planning committee and will therefore not be part of the decision making process. Olivia Rowley said in her short reply that she would send my e-mail to the Chief Planning Officer. So after my passionate plea to them for their support for Newmarket, they seemed to somewhat have passed the book and completely missed the point of the e-mail,they didn't even have the decency to tell me their opinion or whether they support it.

Olivia rowley sent my dad a one sentence reply saying she wasn't involved in the decision making. Seemed quite rude and not interested. Same with lund. Don't think any of them care. However councillor hudson sent me a reply saying that although he wasn't on the comittee, he would do everything he could to support it.

| Olivia Rowley isn't exactly Trinity's best friend. Although if she's still the ward councillor for Belle Vue and Agbrigg then i'm surprised she's not delighted at the thought of Wakefield moving out.

Yes she still is the Councillor for Belle Vue, but unfortunately her area runs right over to Pinders Heath.

| E-mailed all 3 but only David Hopkins has replied but as he is on the planning committee he is unable to comment which I can understand. No response from the other 2 and its been well over a week but they may be on holidays so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

One thing is becoming clear and that is that the Conservative Group in Wakefield Council are clearly in support of the development (Betty is a Tory), along with many of the ruling Labour councillors. I think this continues to bode well for the scheme as a whole. As time goes on I am really struggling to see the current Coalition Government calling this in for a public enquiry, both for the cost of a public enquiry, which is reasonably large, and also turning down a private developer who wishes to develop this land and bring many jobs to the area. That all said, it is only a hunch and second guessing politicians in general is never easy!
