Settle down, I'm going to tell you a story....
Once upon a time there was a player playing the other code in the Welsh Valleys. That player was on the fringe of the Welsh RU side, but there were 'great' players ahead of him in the queue and he felt that he was the right calibre of player to make it in league.
A number of clubs sought to sign this player and various terms were offered. One club got it's Chairman and football director in a car and travelled down to the home of said player. The player was so impressed by this action, and was made to feel so 'wanted' that he signed for that club - and made no secret as to why he chose that club.
The club was Wakefield Trinity and the player was Brian Juliff - I know this to be true through my interview with him last year (in the Wigan programme - who were one of the clubs beaten to his signature). As such, I can fully accept the argument that it is not only about money - it is about the professionalism in handling them - but, some of our guys have gone for the cash - and Shudds and Cas' in particular have splashed the cash in this area.
Clearly we are improving - as can be see from the number of kids named in this thread - but we must keep reviewing and re-investing for this strategy to work long term.
