There is some huge value on show but if you could pick two out of those on show (and there are loads missing) I’d go for….
Gareth Ellis. quality, ability, work ethic, leadership you name it.
Neil Fox, frankly I can’t imagine what he’d be worth on today’s market, an astronomical figure. That’s if SL could keep him or RL didn’t lose him to RU. He’s such a consummate player and athlete and one who clearly has a brain that in his case he isn’t era defined. I confidently say he would be a superstar today as much as he was in the sixties.
If he were playing today and Trinity were shrewd and had signed him up long term he could easily become SL‘S first million pound player whilst gaining us a whopping transfer fee should we be forced to sell.
I don’t think we’ll ever see such complete players as these in the future and certainly not ones with such complete mastery of one position.

| Absolutely. You can't easily say how good they were or how valuable they'd be now.
To pick two different players I'd pick Ian Brooke and Nigel Wright.
Brooke is often overlooked because Of Neil but he was absolute class and a clever player. They partnered each other in the centres for GB when there were some great names around.
And Wright, apart from injuries could have had it all.

Normally I'd agree but not in the case of Fox, you only have to look at him today, what is he 80+? but could pass as 20 years younger, He doesn't look remotely frail, he's just a one-off in every respect, once in a lifetime player. Ellery Hanley was the same, Paul Sculthorpe, any era and dare I say almost any sport athletes,
If Wright had been physically stronger I'd agree but to be frank he makes Tom Johnstone look robust, had it all except for a body that could take the punishment, a genuine lost superstar.

| I watched the first half of the proceedings on Trinity Tv last night. The room was packed and seemed a good atmosphere. As someone already mentioned, MC using 2 crutches, but I’m not sure why the table with a number of our first team squad mostly forwards, started booing when MC asked if Mason Lino was at the presentation.

I agree physique is extremely important.
If you can't handle it physically, no one will ever see your gift.

It's Ian Hughes. Was big striding centre.
For the life of me I can't remember back row guy. Not Mason but it'll come to me.

| We had another Ian Hughes in the early 80's a young prop came through the colts ! Think and only think he might have joined the police force and gave up the game.

It looks like Mason to me.
The Hughes next to Franny S is not the centre, it's his brother who played in the pack (not certain but I think he was a fireman).
Adam Hughes was the centre

| Your No. 33 is Roger Hudson! I used to have the dubious honour of piggy backing him up Bandstand Hill in Thornes Park most training sessions in the early 80's.

Sorry you are right. I should have known that.
I hesitated when I typed it as I knew he was taller.
