ATEOD guys, with Hull, Rovers, Castleford and Wigan all in the market for new head coaches I can't see a lot of coaches going for the Wakefield job. Not the big name coaches anyway.

You'll get an unproven Aussie or Morgan IMO.

I don't interpret what most Wakey fans are saying as being expecting the very best, although it would be nice. It is more a case that Agar has demonstrated himself to be one of the worst coaches around, taking a well funded 'big' club, stocked with potentially good players and doing badly. His most impressive achievement seems to be how consistently he has managed to get them to play below potential.

Equally, I really think you ought to consider your position of criticism. Yes we know we are one of SL lesser lights, but we've had our moments, and we want a better coach as we hope for improvement. I seem to remember that last time Widnes were in SL you were relegated, and you have hardly set the Championship alight, so it is a tad rich taking your position. We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

I think he has a point though. Think about it, Castleford, Wigan and Hull KR are all looking for coaches. It looks like Hull are looking also and who knows what may happen at Leeds. We are competing with all these so it's not like we are going to be able to pick and choose from all the best candidates.

At the moment I am of the opinion that the Guardian article is just speculation, seems a bit of a coincidence that on grandstand they basically talked about the coaching merry go round and listed all the jobs available and the candidates for them - nobby and morgan even joked about forming a job club. I reckon they have basically lifted the peice from earlier on in the afternoon and added a bit of chinese whispers to it.

Can't see us going for him, no logic whatsoever. Particularly when you consider how many potential coaches are apparently available, most of them with better credentials than him.

We have to sell ourselves, and we have to offer good money, I would rather spend less on players and more on the right coach, as we will benefit in the longer term.

I agree, there are better candidates, if AG is going very long term and relatively inexpensive, I'd say Daryl Powell is still in with a shout.
Doing a great job at fev, building a little empire, used to top players from his playing days, takes no shizzle from anyone.
I always think that they could be bigger than us and cas if fev was bigger than it is, add onto that their impending development of PO, and their consistence in the championship under Powell, a club definitely on the up.
