| Quote ="Sacred Cow"I'd have BJB over the one-trick pony (and knock-on king) that is Carney every time. Agree that Vaivai looks decent but this early in his superleague career he remains a poor mans Bill Tupou. As for McGuire the direct comparison is Finn. Both are past their best, slowing rapidly and should probably call it a day. McGuire has the big game experiece and the winners medals that Finny can only dream of but he has had to re-model his game to a controlling one over the last couple of years and it's one that he still doesn't look fully at ease with, whereas Finn has always had that role and mastered it a long time ago. Even stevens probably but Finn gets my vote as he is our goalkicker. Danny the mouth is the better referee though.'"
Finn is terrible, let's not pretend otherwise. He's probably about the only player in your team I am not sure any other team would want. BJB i really like, just not sure he's the tenacity to be a top top winger. On form carney is destructive, and a great finsher. BJB is only the latter, not sure what hes like defensively as I aint seen enough of that side of him, although carney is a bit suspect at that.
Maguire doesn;t ref for us, probably cos hes not playing for the big boys now so every decision goes against not for you. As seen on sunday previous

Finn is not terrible.
Carney is destructive? Agree he has some explosive power for a winger however he had been dealt with pretty well by every winger he has come up against this season, he has no way the same impact he did a few years ago at Castleford. Out of interest, why did you fail to mention that BJBs light jogging pace and great agility and balance would run rings around Carney? As he has done on occasions in the past? You also talk about his finishing but he is just about the only winger in the league that cant do the one handed acrobat dive into the corner.
In conclusion the only thing Carney has on anyone is explosive power, which is highlighted on the wing apart from that he is; Outpaced by every winger in the league, absolutely terrible under the high ball, is less agile than any other winger in the league (He has the turning circle of a truck). All things to target from a Wakefield perspective.

Carney's destructive from two yards out if he doesn't knock on, he's not capable of scoring from 20 yards out or more, we've a winger that can't get a game that's in a different class to him.

| Carney is a lump when going full pelt, just get him before he gets going and he's nothing like as potent.
Saw Jamie Peacock in Hull this week, wandering around a half empty building looking lost, there are only two occupiers of the building, the NHS and Tribunals service, I dunno which he was visiting...

Carney can come up with errors but can easily destroy teams he takes some stopping and we've been found out on the edges a few times this season. With that new lad they've got we need to be on the top of our game, it will be a hard game.

| irrelevant now, he's out for 3 months!
We are now missing 3 of our starting 5 in the back line, - Minns, Heffernan, Carney with a net gain of vaivai.
Could have our prop/2nd row at centre again this sunday in james greenwood. Big advantage to you now, we have no size to get our sets started properly. Get your kicking game right and no penalties we wont make it up the pitch

| Comparing the two squads then we should be looking to repair the damage to the points difference that Salford did in this one. The Hull KR squad looks very weak whilst bar Kirmo we are at full strength.

Yep, I'd go with that but, I think we will go with Finn & Miller in the halves.
We just need Pauli to run at Maguire (he'll either wave him past of end up like Gale) and that should be game over

He's average at best.
We lost both first choice hookers Lunt and Lawler. Carney is more destructive than you think but academic now he's out.
On the plus side for us Marsh isn't named, you've not faced Atkin yet, 7 try Moss is named (after his york loan although we'll see if that has any bearing in SL).
We've actually named a fairly youthful side with half a dozen experienced heads.
Both of us are due a win. We should have beaten Leeds last week (a totally ridiculous sin bin, a non existant penalty given in front of the sticks to them etc). The ref last week was appaling and took decisions from his touch judges over the headphone all game rather than making any himself. Still, had enough chances but Leeds defence was too good. We should have at least drawn away at Catalans apart from cheating Micky Mac in the last minute.
Doesn't change the results though. Fed up of great performances against the 'big' clubs and still not edging it. Also tired of influencial players being injured but hey ho.
A question - do you think Chessie's colours are now showing since he is no longer propped up by Kear?

No.
I'm sure that any half decent side would welcome Kear's input but, I think we're victims of our own hype.
Big talk pre season on how we'd improved on last years squad (with Pauli coming in) but, he's yet to show his worth (and hopefully it's still to come) and the fixtures ultimately, havent done us any favours, with a block of "easy" games followed by a block of tough fixtures, almost akin to a play off series.
Had a couple more of those tight reverses gone our way, we'd have been very, very happy.
As it stands, we're pretty much where you would any half decent Wakefield side to be, mid table and with a game in hand on most of the sides above us.
Mind you, if Rovers take the points on Sunday, it will all be Chesters fault
Have a good game on Sunday, just as long as you finish second.
Come on Trin !

You’d love that to be so wouldn’t you rather than admit you let a good one go. Any sane fan can see that CC has done well other than not having much luck. With a bit more luck we could have another 4 points but hey.
Luck though changes if you work hard.
That said yes we do miss Kear he’s a great guy to have around nobody at this club would deny it but it’s only a very small issue as from my understanding JK had very little input with the players day to day.

Everybody switched players over Easter
Arundel has played and has not shone as much as Tupou and Lyne.
If MCB had played Arundel wouldn't as we moved Tupou to the wing.

Lyne has defended pretty well this season, 18 tackles and 15 missed tackles is damn good going and better even then Toupu.
No doubt that Lyne is a stronger player in possession and has been one of our better players this season but, some of his basic passing is awful.
Arundel is a far better player at timing a pass to his wingman but is slightly slower and nowhere near as effective bringing the ball form our line and Toupu, generally, has been immense.
Unless you are going to play Lyne or Toupu on the wing, which would mean dropping Johnstone or BJB, Arundel is going to be left waiting for his chance and we still have MCB who is also unlucky not to be getting some game time.
