Crigg under 9's played lock lane this morning in what I'm sure is the best performance so far from the lads that turned up . Crigg only had 8 players , lock lane 14 so they played 10 with 4 subs . The score ended up 40-18 to crigg - the result doesn't matter , it's just the effort the lads put in , in what was a scorcher . Every single one of them ran and tackled like their lives depended on it and my lad for one has been knackered all afternoon . From what turned out at 10 o' clock as a miserable morning - same faces who turn up whatever because they love the game & the rest who only come because their parents have an excuse to spend all day on the lash- to being as proud as you could possibly be by 11.30 . Sorry to waffle , but I hope all those lads feel proud of themselves tonight .

Thought we had it in the bag at 18-6 but the tackling which had been solid throughout let us down towards the end.

www.stanleyrangers.org.uk/ now this is a player that could quite well play for the under 13, but it should read under 11s, Kieran is with doubt our best player and week in week out gets the top tackler, his drive and commitment to the side is second to non, he got a bang on the leg in a tackle that didn't in anyway give us all concern barr for him limping off and resting it, it wasn't until at a later date when he still had the pain that it was diagnosed as a broken bone in his leg he has been lucky that it has healed well and doesn't require a pot on and there will be now doubt that he will be there on saturday supporting his teammates, what a guy I saw him coming away from training tonight smiling as usual. I would like to see this lad receive a special man of steel award when we have our awards on the 1st Aug, I wish you a quick return Kieran to full health and look forward to the new season next year

another bad day at the office as we went down to a very good side 48 -0,
hard to find any positives when hunslet have a 100% completion rate and only missed scoring twice from possession, the problem being their heads go down and the score just gets worse, on reflection if they can overcome that barrier it would a closer score line,
for small periods of the game they showed that they can play a team game but reverted back to one man rugby and heading back into the play,

I think this league is at the moment too far for us, but when we dropped down one find it too easy, we lack true speed so if anybody has a 11 year old that would like to have a go give me a pm

that can be the problem, too hard at the top, but too easy in the second div. I hope the league keep you in div one next season, and you recruit some players, its the only way to avoid the dreaded yoyo effect.

we are expecting two or three that has shown interest but are waiting for the new season start due to the few games we have left to play, next year is a new beginning as they start to play a more open game due to less restricting junior rules, league positions as well as cup games, not sure what to expect from the team

cas panthers u9s travelled to lock lane for a bruising derby game with the panthers coming out on top winning 22-10.the panthers started strong and built up a 18-10 half time lead but in the second half lane chucked everything they had at us but we defended like our lives depended on it to keep them out before pinching one on the break.

i know derby games are hard but this game was a massive advert for junior rugby with both teams fully commited and giving the opposition what for, for the full 40,despite that both teams shook hands and im sure they will continue the match at school tommorow.

Crigg u9's lost against stanningley this morning . Best I've seen stanningley play to be honest , their game usually seems to be all aggression and out bullying of their opponents but this morning they looked really well drilled and looked to pass it about whenever possible .( still plenty of aggression though , my lad for one got tackled and then punched in the face , cue loads of blood , funny thing is he's chuffed to bits about it !!!)
All their coaches seemed to be in good spirits too all morning , usually as miserable as sin when we've played them before.

i know what your saying stanningley usually rely heavily on bullying their opponants out of it and when you stand up to them they dont normally have an answer,saying that they do have one or two that can play a bit if they concentrate on rugby and not punching.

Totally aggree - they had a couple of lads I didn't recognize from before but were excellent at their reading of the game - very impressive for this age .

the Stanley 8s played out a typical game against with hunslet parkside which had all the usual lovely south Leeds banter from the supporters quote of the week was at presentations by one of the hunslet coaches (and boy they were a few at pitch side) errr our top tackler today got pulled for a lot of high tackles and needs to wipe that out off their game but never the less .....

I second that. As Eddie Waring might've said he's a grand lad and a special award as Snowie says would be well deserved.

We haven't had to play them this year thank god - do they still have that numpty who screams and shouts at their kids ( and ref ) like it's the grand final ?
