[uNobody could FORCE the teams to merge, the RFL can ask & offer money, but nor force it. [/uBoth teams would still be given a lot of money from Sky per year and I'd bet Wakeys grounds would go UP at Glasshoughton because there would be more travelling fans.

At Oakwell you'd lose a franchise criteria point on the 40% full ruling [/ubecause it holds over 20,000, at Glasshoughton you wouldn't because it would hold 15,000.

You really believe thats the case, they could and they will, i aint willing to take that chance.
Thats a fair point.

| From Wakefield's perspective we should dismiss GH straight away. Forget it, be strong and get on with NM regardless of the pressure being exerted. If/when NM gets delayed then we should look at playing at viable stadiums in the near vicinity with the exception of GH (if built). If that means the club being demoted in the near future then so be it, but NM should be our future home which will secure our survival.
I have no bad will to Cas but first and foremost this is about Wakefield and Newmarket. Glass houghton plays no part in our future

I think Mr Cryne would welcome us with open arms i want to see Wakefield Trinity play SL RL in a new stadium in Wakefield
I will not support them in a ground share at Cas
I would support a merger with Cas or Fev with a stadium in Normanton
I would support Wakefield playing at Oakwell even if we lost the Wakefield name and I am sure we would pick up a decent number of the Barnsley public
If all else failed we can play Pennine League at the Dorothy Hyman Stadium and I can walk to the match

| I would not want to watch Wakefield in NL1 with NO prospect of coming back into SL. There is no way that if Wakey lost their franchise (and Cas retained theirs) that we would get back into SL - EVER. If you want to watch lower level rugby in perpetuity then do it but I would not have a problem with supporting a vibrant and strong merged team competing with the other big boys.

| If I were the owners of Xscape or the retail outlet the last thing I would want is a set of people with recognised anger management problems (chucking bottles at officials? Abuse of minorities?) turning up every other week and frightening the customers. Far better that they are coralled off on an industrial estate well away from such facilities.

Me too and I've been watching Trinity for almost 50 years.
I'd rather watch a merged team playing SL than NL with no prospect of ever getting back into SL.
I'd even be happy to play at Glasshoughton - Wakefield Tigers playing in Castleford - hows that for a compromise.

Quite the opposite, WMDC didn't want to accept the responsibility of maintaining the ground any longer. Trinity were happy to take this on & given the immediate running costs that the club would incur a sale price was agreed of a nominal £1.

Yes but your logic is poor
1. There is another SL club over in Glasshoughton area. The public over there alrready follow that side.
Last I heard there is no RL in Barnsley so at least there is a chance of picking up some local support.
2. There is no stadium at Glasshoughton as far as I can remember and no evidence to suggest there will be one soon. Last I heard there was a very good stadium already built in Barnsley.

Exactly right....come on Wakey, fans,Swag WCT stay strong and firm we have no need to give into the scaremongering tactics. We do not need Cas to proceed with Newmarket but they sure as hell need us.

| Makes you wonder if the survey the club recently did was to be used for this feasibility study issue.
If as has been said, the Council are still planning to use the two parcels of land, then they gain nothing from trying to force us into a groundshare. Therefore they should allow the Community Trust the chance to progress the Newmarket plans and as Cas have already been told they can play there (assuming they can't finalise funding for their private stadium) there is no loser.
The way I see it we go to GH we die a slow death or end up in NL1 so we might as well take a chance on sticking with NM.

| Rodney and his gang could generate 2 million i do not think we need the council apart from a stamp of approvel. Back to the protest lets go near box's office and give him what for a reasoned debate. He promised us a ground after thornes park and that he would work with us. Work with us and place the golden stamp you &$£$%$£%"£ . And do it now. Forget Barnsley why should we travel to Barnsley we are Wakefield at least Glasshoughton is a part of the Wakefield district but that is our last option. But we should stay strong on the Newmarket site surely Sir Rodney has more say than a cardboard box .

Any delay in proceedings will require Trinity having a plan B. If Newmarket gets stuck in red tape the RFL will not accept anything less than actual construction work as evidence of progress.

What other delay would they be though??? plans are in; thousands upon thousands backing the Newmarket development funding in place, Sir Rodney could generate 2 million from somewhere or even cut something down where we just need 1 million, im confident. If we bombarde mr box who very rarely replies to letters BTW only 1 councillor i have a problem with even ED Balls manages to reply but never Mr Ignorant BOX. We have a chance there will be uproar if we share at Glasshoughton as Mr Box will be a liar after saying he would back any plans Trinity had after thornes, so he needs to back it, if not this will not be forgotten. We have the power Sir Rodney holds a lot of power. HAVE FAITH PEOPLE IT WILL HAPPEN .

The council have delayed the initial outline planning decision till September for no apparent reason, if it goes to a public enquiry then it will add more time.
In my opinion, the WDCT should call Box's bluff. If Trinity sort themselves out with a viable plan B option until Newmarket gets the go ahead then there is no need for them to be pressured into any unfavourable deal.

| Sharing at Oakwell is a good plan B until Newmarket is sorted. moving to cas is a none starter we'd lose fans in protest and not get any new fans from that area so wouldn't benefit Wakefield at all. I'm glad the club and WCT are stil progressing with newmarket as its a brilliant project and would provide Wakefield with something to be proud of for a change.
