Two simple but very true statements there. I'm sure there is quite a few of us going to Wales, but there will be a lot more not going for varying reasons. One being financial, its on sky for the 50/50s' and those who are still disappointed over yesterday. So perhaps the week after is the game to get behind the team.

Our neighbours down the road have been relegated twice in 4 years and came bottom last year, but they have kept their support during that time and have improved their support this year. They averaged over 5000 when playing in NL1.

We are a city and they are a small town, what are they doing to attract fans that we aren't?

well its true wakey is swamped with every race under the sun who have no interest in rl, whilst reckonising even immigrants dont want to go to cas you dont have this problem

its a more tightly knit community down to being mostly ex mining families, hats off to them I know my loyalties

Mostly every town or city has a community of 'immigrants' as you so put them.

huddersfield/kirklees has many many immigrants but we still manage to pull in over 6,000 for every game

they could not be d to turn out before we lost 5 on the spin our gates have being a bloody disgrace all season

i think the difference is that most of us in cas have always thought that better times would be around the corner and so have stuck be the club in the hope that the rewards would come and upto now this season things have been getting better but i think the problem that you have is that the majority of wakey fans have no confidence in the club for better times and so show there fellings by not turning out, i work with a lot of wakey fans and they made it clear years ago they would never go again as long as richardson was at the club, i may get rubbished for this post but for what its worth i think this is your problem.

oh and we dont have to suffer the belle vue experience

Castleford have always had a positive spin on most things and always have had a good publicity machine that always seems to paint the glass as half full. They always believe that things will get better and consequently stick by the team. If there are any stories that may have an adverse effect on them within days a good news story is released. We announce a ground at Stanley and within days Castleford issue a press release stating that things are on track at Glasshoughton and then follow it with a piece in the Castleford & Pontefract Express stating that they have or are producing a Design Guide and Schedule of Facilities for the new Stadium - does not move you any further forward without funding but by God it keeps the spirit up and fans interest.

On the other hand we at Wakefield don't appear to have any publicity machine at at all. We have rumours about financial problems, players unhappy etc. etc. and we are faced with silence. Eventually there is a piece denying it all in the Express but as the rumours have been allowed to fester people now think "no smoke without fire"

I have said it on here before and will say it again. We need more positive Marketing and Publicity if we are to go forward and attract new support. I'm not criticising the people doing the job now, not at all, they do a terrific job with the resources they have - they need to be given more support.

You would not expect any business/sports team to wash it's dirty linen in public but these rumours don't seem to be going away and seem to be being backed up in a round a bout kind of way by people supposedly in the know. Would be nice to have some idea what's going on but why should they ley mug punters like myself in on it I'll just trail down to Wales to support a team who may or may not be trying, who may or may not all be falling out with each other, who may or may not be being offered to other clubs, playing for a club that may or may not be in serious financial difficulties.

I have remained very positive this season but as always we end up doing our best to self implode. How the hell we expect to entice NEW fans through the gate when all the club seems to do is take the mickey out of those who already do.

Would love to disagree with you purely on the basis that what you are saying is utter rubbish. Unfortunately imo what you say pretty much sums it up, and at the moment for me it is a very worrying time. Not to mention that we are having to bare the brunt of the jokes from the less educated from the other side of wf6 and the Clampetts from Hillbilly land.
