| Shocking decision... how can they possibly justify that sanction? Player welfare is secondary to superstar status.
They admit that it was reckless and that he had no regard for the safety of another player, which he emphasised by being more concerned about his punishment from the ref than the condition of the player he'd just flattened.
So, on RFL logic, if you've been a good boy for a long time you have a licence to do just about anything and then get let off lightly. I've never committed a crime (or at least never got caught). I'm a bit skint so I think I'll go out tomorrow and do an armed robbery. I'm sure the judiciary will let me off with a small fine and a short suspended sentence.
They were going to have a new round on "Question of Sport" where they show a clip of an offence and give the charge grade, then you have to guess the outcome. It was scrapped because no-one got any right.

Mate, what relevance is that result to the RFL needing the big draw teams at the big games?
Did you see the empty seats at last year due to Hull KR playing? Meanwhile us and Leeds sold OT out. That is what the sport needs to grow.

Ah, that's the reason behind the "fair" system, to give the "big" clubs an advantage, so that they can make it to all of the finals and ensure that they sell out.
It all looks much clearer now.
Never appreciated that you had to rely on help from the governing body, I thought you were the mighty Wigan
The measure on all of these things is, what outcome would you want/ expect if the situations were reversed and had it been Sam who had been taken out with the same type of high shot, would the Wigan fans be happy with the offending player getting 1 game ? I dont think so.

Empty seats at cup finals & internationals are due to fans not bothering anymore you don't see as many neutrals on challenge cup final day anymore. The RFL have made us a disunited sport which is disappointing as we are a small sport anyway.

| Ignore the Wigan troll. He's displaying the Wigan arrogance because he knows it winds people up. They don't own their ground and have done nothing to acquire it. Like us, they are mere tenants, but with a better landlord.
As for the ban, unless I'm missing something, the earlier the dismissal, the longer we were without an interchange player, who was in fact on the pitch for about five minutes. So for the cheap shot that it was, we had to play for 75 minutes with only 3 substitutes. But it's only Wigan who suffered? Ah, I get it.

Sorry mate, I didn't realise Wigan R L took a chance and paid for and built their own stadium. Good on them, I wish money wasn't a problem for us.

| Journalists have also now confirmed two of the "independent" three man panel were OLoughlins ex team mates- Stuart Fielden & Danny Sculthorpe.
Fielden on Twitter claiming no conflict of interest despite obvious Wigan links

Didn't Danny Sculthorpe also play for Wakefield? btw he was at the game on Friday which I guess is more than the majority of posters on here were.

2nd highest attendance at Belle Vue this season, or were you "only there 'cause it's Wigan" ?
And no they didn't. I really hope you beat Wire and we beat Hull. You're one of two teams we have played at Wembley and I've not seen us win against. Yes I was there in 1963.

| Bad news for Annakin and let's with the lad a speedy recovery.
The RFL should be really happy with a low call on the head shot and it makes a total mockery of the 1 game ban.
It's too simplistic to say that a player should be out for the same length of time as they opponent that they have caused injury to but, 1 match !!!!!!!!

| CC gives his thought on it all here. Got to say the RFL not even inquiring about the health of Chris is pretty disgusting.

It's not [igiving[/i big clubs an unfair advantage (who have often earned the right to be a big club through investment in youth and stars etc.), it's quite the opposite. It's giving the smaller clubs an unfair advantage by hamstringing the bigger clubs and dragging them down to the level of teams that can't compete.
We don't rely on help, it just comes with the territory when you're the big boys. "Power begets more power" - George Washington.
If the situation was exactly reversed I would have been happy with the decision at the game and initially quite unhappy with the one game suspension. Then I'd have viewed the tackle back with dispassionate eyes and realised it wasn't that bad a challenge and my anger to the Wakefield player would have abated, the same as my anger about the ban, once I realised he deserves some leniency for 15 years of card-less career.
