Yes they are all counted, which is fair enough as the ticket has been bought and paid for. I think this is the reason why people get confused with the crowd figures especialy at cup games. One week you are at a league match and a crowd of say 7000 is given out, next week you have a cup game and it looks like the same numbers in the ground and the crowd is announced at 3,500.

The crowd was certainly higher than I guessed on the night (8k) but its worth noting Belle Vue holds approx.11k so there was still space for another 1700 people, although i believe the safety certificate only permits 10k to be in the ground.

If you want to know the true attendance, ask someone from the nutjob forum - there's a whole thread dedicated to it, along with some 'expert' opinion on how we've been fiddling the figures for years.

OMG. Why would you go to that effort to think of a way to lie about attendances?

I particularly like the reason to justify inflating the attendance and not getting caught by the tax man was to reduce a big attendance later in the year!?!? Why on earth would you do that? You be quoting the same annual attendance, the tax would be the same but you've had to sit there flexing numbers up and down just to pee off the Cas fans forum.

Yes it looked as full as I've seen it since probably Leeds last season, which seen as we were on Sky was a very good surprise.

I think people don't realise how many more are now in the north stand, having stood there for nearly 30 years, all around me in previous years there was plenty of room, but not any more. It is now packed regularly. Also on Saturday the west terrace looked as full as I have seen it for a while.

Add this to the hospitality boxes and your crowd is right up there.

Only real empty spaces I could see was in the east stand, which TBF Is never full.

I was in the West Stand in the first half and it was pretty packed apart from under the roof. Then in the second half i ventured to the North stand which was even busier. The attendance seems right to me, there wasn't much space available. Some Cas fans are just clutching at straws and wishing it wasn't so, but it's only natural that attendance increases on the back of a side performing well on the pitch.

Slightly off topic but Casforum is going into meltdown over the decision to give Chase a two game ban and 300 quid fine.

I remember a Friday night Leeds game from a few years ago when the declared attendanace was about the same as Saturday's.

The difference to me was that in the former you couldn't have made room for Olive Oyl yet on Saturday there was space for a plentiful supply of Dawn French lookalikes.

Seriously,considering the kick-off time and the fact the game was televised, Saturday's attendance must be the most impressive since our renaissance.

All I can say is lets all keep working to get more fans down, just one extra fan each and we will get a packed out stadium nearly every game..

I agree wildycat, that's why I come on this forum (amongst others); to remind myself that both clubs have their childish fans who shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard and really ought to know better.

I know there are a number of posters on this forum who are pretty biased, similar to the forums of other clubs & the V.T has other issues, however…

Some of the posters on that forum are beyond the pale, they seem to have been indoctrinated into some type of cult & some of the hard-liners are revered by their acolytes & heaven forbid if anyone doesn’t tow the line, they are branded as an infidel.
