So is it Gaskell 100k over two years? If so your post is a touch misleading. I wouldn’t consider 50k OTT.

Watched the same podcast last night, Harrison alludes to both been 100k plus on the cap, was just a passing comment in relation to Morgan Smith tbf but suggest 100k plus a year.

Although he does represent most SL players, you would assume doing the job he does he has a good idea of what a lot of players earn, if I was him though I'd stay away from speculating on players salaries all together but it was basically in context of saying we have 2 high earners there so they have gone for a cheaper option in Smith (he obviously knows what Smith earns as he is his agent) Not sure how to link from mobile mate as I use the app.

Interestingly he started talking about us taking the cheap option with Applegarth as well, saying we would be paying 70/80k rather than paying 150 for an aussie.

The only people who should know a player's salary are the player, the club and I suppose the agent. If the agent is passing this information on then he's way out of order.

Going off experience, I would say £100k a year, given the calibre of player, I would say is a little excessive.

However, I think £50k a year, would be inaccurate too.

Given the fact that he's come from a cash rich club, he would have been on a decent contract. I think maybe £60-70k would be more accurate. Also, an average salary, based on the cap, abd a squad of 30, would allude to a similar figure.

Oh well that settles if it was a good source.

It looks like guy is minted as he has at least 4 contracts, 1 for £100k, 1 for £100k over two years, 1 for £80k and 1 for £50.

Not bad for a fella that averages less than 15 games a season!

I could, as indeed you could, email the club direct and ask. They won’t tell you of course as these people are grown ups (give it a go you might like it) but you might get a hint with the row of laughing emojis at the end.

Let's do some basic maths.

Last figure I recall was that we spent 1.3 million on wages per year, may be wrong but we have to start somewhere.

So according to the experts, based on last years squad of 34 players.

Lineham 100K+
Gaskell 100K+
Lino 100K+

Now the top earners allegedly were, and I'm guessing of course

Fifita. 125K
TJ 125K

Now for the others who must by any logic be on similar to Gaskell, but I'll give some slack.

Tanginoa. 80K
Tupou. 80K
Lynne. 80K
Miller. 80K

That lot comes to 870K

That leaves 430K to split between 24 players. These include the likes of Hood, Ashurst, Jowitt, Whitbread, Arona, Kay, Crowther, Batchelor and Pitts who won't be cheap. Put crudely thats 18K a player on average. I'd guess those players alone would be on a minimum of 40K a season and I'm being very mean there. That's 400K, leaving 30K to split between 14 players! That's 2.2K P/A!!!

I know I'm purely guessing but I'm doing so based on the Gaskell 100K+ figure and that has to be right surely.

Figures don't stack up and as we know with Mr Carter the figures always have to stack up.

1.6 million on wages was the last figure i heard, half a million below salary cap. (It came from an interview with Carter & Chester a while back from memory). I believe Fifita was our only player over 100k, but a few nearing it (80-95k range). And yes Gaskell was one of those. And sadly Lineham. Some of the younger lads don’t earn much at all given what they put themselves through which keeps the average down. Bear in mind the average super league salary is circa 70-75k so thinking we (as a bottom end club) can pick up established players, who also likely have interest elsewhere, for less than the going rate is fanciful. We have to pay the going rate at least then sell them a dream.

Sorry but you don't know that, nobody knows that except the club and the player, it's folly to think you do but then that's forums for you, anyone can claim knowledge, me included.

No where did MC specifically state that Gaskell or Lineham were one of those.

Going rate yes, but not for a player with Gaskells injury record it isn't, the club isn't stupid.
