I hope you're not crying too much about our former coach and the job he did whilst there.

| Can't help but feel a bit sorry for the guy; he's had a dreadful year on a personal level and entirely understandably, can't have has his mind fully focussed on the job. On top of that, he's operating with massive limitations and an already disgruntled fan base.
All that said - results don't lie and they're simply not good enough.

| I think he's suffered terribly from having a massive chunk of his playing budget taken by Rangi Chase. A player that can do more harm than good, and being on such a large wage means that it limits the quality of the rest of the squad.

Agree with that. Similar to Vince Mellars ?

Hardly, as Mellars isn't on anything like what Chase is, nor is he a disruptive influence on the side both on and off the field. Mellars isn't as capable as Chase when he's got his head on, nor has he ever been suspended by his club or spent large amounts of time suspended. What an odd comparison you make.

If only!
I tend to agree with violet - a player like Chase at a club like Cas is a recipe for disaster; you are a one man team which automatically gives that one man a significant amount of power - a very difficult management problem for the head coach. Couple that with the fact that your best and most influential player is only there because he couldn't get a visa to play elsewhere and you've got a man-management nightmare on your hands.
I'm not making excuses for the fella mind - his results pre-Cas were questionable, so your BoD knew what they were getting when they recruited him and Millward himself must have joined Cas with his eyes wide open in terms of the financial constraints he would be working with.

| Had to feel sorry for Basil when his son died suddenly and carrying on will have been hard for some time.It must be great as a coach to have the funds to bring only the best players in but when at the lower end of the league and money is tight its a different story.
If Uncle Dickie could forgive Kear masterminding our survival and Cas being relegated then Im sure Kear would jump at the chance money or no money and lets face it he has proven he can motivate players.

| Cas need someone like JK or Karl Harrison, someone with plenty of experience who can get plenty, out of not much and motivate the team until the end of the season, at least.
Ok, they aren't going to be world beaters but, they would want to win their "fair share".
If they go for a young up and coming coach, they risk everything, which wouldn't do them or the young coach any good whatsoever

I was kidding. The reference to Mellers was purely comparing players who cost too much for their respective clubs.

Their next two games are winnable so in a few weeks we could be on the same points as them

Well they will certainly have had a boost by then, given Millward is gone and rumours of a consortium coming in, not to mention Alf getting giddy again cos we have had another CCJ (although he does confirm we have settled some) and someone else on the nutjob forum reckons another for 10-12k is on its way.

I think this I'd a great point. I'd partially counter by suggesting that the manner of many of Cas's defeats have been awful. Towellings by half time in the last three, oh and Hull FC away. In short they've shown little sign that they have what it takes to turn thing around.
Great point though, Agar out!

| I certainly wouldn't be up for changing our coach at this stage, but in all honesty we have performed well for one 40 minute session and a few odd bits dotted around this season. IMHO it simply isn't a good enough return on the squad we have.
We play some super stuff at times but we CANNOT defend and we couple that with our open door policy of handling errors and stupid penalties - as bad as any side I've watched at BV.
I'm afraid to say I am losing faith that this group of players can turn it around. I reckon there is a feeling from some that it will just come right as it did last year, but it won't without individuals contributing more and giving away less.
The nett result is that Agar has a job to do to avoid the pressure being ramped up on himself and the club!

1. Agree with your overall point, but I'd suggest that you can't have been watching very long if you think this bunch are as bad as that.
2. I think we're so think on the ground that it's inevitable that we're not consistent. The simple fact is that if Tim Smith isn't allowed space to perform then we're nothing. We're worse without Ellis, and the likes of Ali Lauitit, Peter Fox, and Paul Sykes are a year older. Washbrook has been my biggest disappointment this year.
3. Of course he's got a job to do. That's why we pay him. However I'm becoming tired of losing (and drawing) games we should be winning. Salford, Hull FC, and Huddersfield represent five lost points in my book.

Re point 1 - I was only referring to the ability to give stupid penalties - and yes, they are as bad and yes, I have been watching a fair while!
Smith / Lautiti / Fox / Sykes / Washbrook have all been poorer than last year. Lautiti continues to be a threat but he is stifled as we have so few options. Smith has rarely been fit and the others just haven't fired.
We will always be there, but there were a few at the Hull game who were grumbling.

We've got a hard game against Warrington but we've got winnable games after that against Widnes, Catalans at home, HKR and then Cas. So I'd hope we can win 2 of those before we meet back up with them.
Looking at their next few fixtures, they actually play the same teams as us with the exception of Warrington where they play Salford.
There's no doubt those games we should have won have put us in a tricky position, in the league and with fans staring to grumble. They need to pull their finger out and start putting in some winning performances, even if it's ugly.
