| There are too many things to comment on in this thread but I have three points to make.
1) Cas development is Cas's development. Why do we continue to get into an arguement about who's is best. Concentrate on ours and leave them to theirs.
2) A "protest" will always be a mistake.
3) If you want to get involved, get involved. Don't come on forums like this calling to arms from the comfort of your PC. We are way ahead of that stage. Either help the guys who are already out there doing the hard work or don't. Trying to play cyber-politics and prove that someone has quoted something about the development incorrectly or that you know more about Greenbelt-Brownfield sites is worthless to the project.
Passing opinion on the forum is of course fine. That's what it is there for. The starting post to this thread isn't that, it is at best scaremongering, and that isn't good - The good thing about it is the passion for Wakefield behind the post. That should be harnessed in a more productive way.

| Why would a protest be a mistake. Should we just sit back and take then and die as a club?

Not at all. They aren't the only two options.
In my opinion,
1) Protest gives the impression of force over negotiation. It makes us look like we are the unheard minority rather than the majority with a good business case.
2) It will ruffle feathers of people who I thinkwould be better in support of us than pushed out.
3) You don't know who else will join in and cause it to get out of hand, plenty of undesirables will jump on the opportunity to put a window through or goad the police. That will kill us quicker than anything else.
and finally, I'm not sure we actually have an enemy to protest against.
When a decision is made that we think ist he wrong one and unjust we can protest against that, but right now it seems to me that there are things that are moving too slowly but no one has said we canm't do it yet...unless I am missing something.
So as I said, I applaud your passion for this, I just think a protest is the wrong way to go.
On a personal level, I would support all activity that involves campaigns to tell people how good the project is and what benefit it would be and even stand up and tell people my own feelings on it, but I wouldn't attend a protest.

Just what have you got to protest about?

| As frustrating as this is all getting, a "protest" would generate as much negativity adit would positivity, there is no way on earth you would get 15000 people to go, more like 150, and the NIMBYS would have a field day, and because of frustration we would have caused ourselves some embarassment.
We can't do anything about about the clock ticking or the speed of the decission making. We have to sit it out.
As 100% positive as I am, I feel the clock seems to be ticking quicker than we want it to.

I have never believed that the 106 agreement was anything other than a technicality as it was in Waystones hands, not the council.
I have not pulled Glasshoughton apart - as a RL fan I wish for all clubs to have access to suitable venues to ply their trade in, and that includes all 3 clubs in WMDC. The main issue is that because of a lack of activity over several decades, all 3 clubs have fallen behind the times. I wish no ill on Cas, but it's not my job to promote their efforts, my job is to ensure that we have facilities in Wakefield - and I know a really good place to build them!
PS - the links are included in the overall package, so are not a problem - but thanks anyway!
'"
I dont know if you would know or not but have yourselves and yorkcourt come to any agrement with the highways department about the linkroads as i know this can be one hell of a sticking point, i believe it took waystone about 3 years to get the problems ironed out with the highways department before they could start and build the Xscape complex. Also does this come under the planning permision banner or is it a seperate procedure to apply for the linkroads.

| Quote ="Richie_L"A lot of you moaners on here just don't understand how life with local authorities and funding bodies work. It is a long drawn out process that includes a lot of talks/discussions/fine-tuning behind the scenes that HAS to have confidentiality as part of the arrangement between the parties.
As for the Wakey v Cas ground thing, I really wish it was resolved one way or another sooner rather than later, because none of the fans going on about it in the manner as on these boards give either club any credit when they are trying to knock down the other club's bid. Togetherness is what both clubs need - to try and get what we BOTH want, our own stadiums, none of this rubbish about ours is up first, ours is behind - rubbish.
To TRB and those involved with the logistics of it all, good luck - you deserve peace and quiet while you do your hard work. And more than that, you deserve respect and appreciation. Without you guys, we would be a long way off where we are now. [i(Though you are often too humble to receive it - Thank you from the silent majority!)[/i'"

| a PROTEST WOULD let the council know we want it its good to voice an opinion we should have had a new ground 15 years ago and they are still messing about. It would be a peaceful protest. Did it or did it no help St helens yes it did and there chairman was even involved I think they are more correct than some of you on here that will just sit back and let the club die !

FFS man...how many people do you need to tell you that you are in a minority of 1 !!
The right people are doing the right things behind the scenes. Just 'cos us mere mortals are not informed of every single step in the process doesn't mean it's not happening !!!!
We all want it to happen.....but as TRB keeps telling you....keep the faith.

Equally a protest will not make a stadium materialise out of thin air. There are procedures that have to take place, very long and time consuming procedures that can not be fast tracked. The important date is in September, than there will be another important date a number of weeks after that.
Stamping your feet and spitting your dummy out right now will achieve nothing other than get people’s backs up who do not have an interest in this development with comment such as ‘we should have had a new ground 15 years ago and they are still messing about.’
Sit back and chill. If the time ever comes to protest then SWAG will have their first point of call (and no doubt a benefactor for any costs they incur to organise any such event!).

So I don't understand why you think a protest will make it go quicker.
