Its very true that both sides to a story can be very different but i will ask James when i see him next, he may or may not tell me.

I disagree, alot of young players have all the above but don't make it or end up in NL.

For a 22 year old forward he is not developed how he should be. Whether that's down to his frame or conditioning remains to be seen.

For me he's not good enough. He may be in a few years we'll see. But other players at 22 are making more of their chances in SL, admittedly in better teams.

That knock on by Ben was just a mistimed run, a very basic mistake. To be fair his heart was at the willows tonight a very poor perfomance.

You listed attributes Ben has, you nor I made reference to him being 6ft 4 (whatever difference that makes). I simply stated that the majority of young players will have all of what you listed! You make it sound like these are rare qualities found in young players. Not in my opinion. Although Ben will soon fall out of the young player bracket been nearly 23.

And did I not say that it remains to be seen im coming years whether it is conditioning? selective hearing is one thing but selective sight you have Down to a tee.

It makes a difference that he's 6'4" and has the attributes I listed because that is rare, I didn't mention his height because even with my selective eyesight it's pretty evident.

Being the height he is, is relevant because with the correct conditioning he can build width and extra weight through the addition of muscle. A 23/24 year old front rower standing 6'4" and weighing 17st is a far more attractive proposition than a 6' 16st front rower.

When you have a player with the raw materials who has the attributes I mention it's sheer mismanagement to allow him to spend 2 years under your guidance and not provide him with the correct conditioning programme to fulfil his potential.

There's the rub fella, it's not about whether he goes to Salford and receives better strength and conditioning advice over the next 2 years, it's about Wakefield not giving him that advice 2 years ago. Had they done that we probably wouldn't be letting him go and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

You say he's not good enough, I say his ability is critically connected to the poor advice he's had from our conditioning team, he's the one thats been been let down. We shouldn't be getting rid we should be looking at his game, his attitude, his work ethic, his enthusiasm, his ability to play at SL level and then adding to all that by developing his physique.

As for the personal jibes, I don't see the need but before you start lobbing insults I suggest you at least try and grasp the very fundamentals of what's being discussed.

I dont think the ins and outs of bens dealings should be on here hence why I have bit my Tongue on this thread, nor should somebody ask JE what has gone on. That looks bad on the club and Gledhill. As for all the other comments about development and size I would gladly discuss in person this matter as IMO the people commenting on it have no idea whatsoever about conditioning...if he has been trained that way he will be lean if u want him bigger change his diet/training simple as that. A props supposed prime is mid twenties to thirty so he has three years (minimum) so let's see how he does.

Ill be happy just to wait and see. Gledhill looks to have been let down by the clubs conditioning past two years, I don't know.

Trojan, I honestly can't believe anyone could post something so fundamentally wrong. I'm 48 years old and been involved in the game since I was about 8. In that time height has always been one of the most critical indicators as to whether a player will make it. It's not the be all and end all, a few short players other than 6,7 and 9's have made it. However life for a taller player is without doubt easier in all butthose positions - just look at the NRL.

With exercise and diet even the most slender of players can be built up eventually but as far as I'm aware no one has ever successfully made a player taller. Why is being tall so important? Because a tall man can simply carry more weight which can be turned into muscle which in turn becomes speed, power and strength. It's that simple, a good big un will always beat a good small un.

Jonny T is a huge hero on here and rightly so. However he was always 4 inches too small and no matter how hard he tried or how good his technique he couldn't overcome that no matter how much ticker he had. Sinfield will never be as good a player as Sculthorpe and the main reason is he's too short - not too small - to short and there is a difference - if he were one of those short nuggety players like Widders before he got super fat he may have got away with it but he isn't.

Gledhill is perfect material to build on, just look at him. He could easily carry an extra two stone at a pinch three in MUSCLE. The difference that would make to him as a player would be enormous. Whatever Gledhills future holds his frame will not be an issue. Being tall especially in the forwards or as a centre doesn't just matter it's vital in all but a few rare cases.
