| I think he'll be good for us.
As for the throwing the ball. As long as he does it to the Cas fans now instead of us, I'm ok with it.

It would be fairer to say he put in one or two of the worst performances and his first half showing against Wigan at WR must rank as the most disastrous I've ever seen from a Cas FB. However more often he was one of our better players...that's Richie for you. He was never going to be prefered to Owen but I'm sure he would have been at least as productive/reliable in the threequarters as the under-achiever Widnes have relieved us of.'"
I don't see how he was never going to be prefered to Owen. Owen was very very ordinary last season. I don’t know if that’s because of his long lay off with injury but he didn’t look like a SL full back, certainly not the one that performed before his injuries. I would rather have our back-up full back (Cockayne) than the Owen of last season.

Maybe because the bloke who picks the team has said as much. I agree that Owen looked ordinary (at best) in a lot of games, the vast majority of which were on the wing. When he was at FB the improvement was so marked and immediate that it was obvious to play him anywhere else would be just plain daft. Also in view of the age difference what would have been the point in going with Mathers and holding Owens progress back.

| Owen is good, there is no doubt. He is young and local and they are pinning their future on people like him.
Mathers isn't like that, so they made a choice.

He's local to us, Lupset lad isn't he? He's a cracking player, much better at FB than on the wing, although bit of a numpty when he's had some pop.

Owen was born in Ponte and played for Fev and Wakey amateur clubs. So, no not a Cas lad.

| Not my "favourite" player but to play at the very top level and also the NRL for so long means he has valuable experience and is a seasoned professional at the peak of his career - so a very good signing for us. hopefully we can get the howlers out of his game and we see the best of him.
Good effort, much prefer this than another import.

Some people in Cas are still convinced that Jack Reed is from Airdale!

All cas lads are born in ponte as we don't have a maternity unit in cas, he is from airdale i believe. He was indeed playing for fev lions when cas signed him but alot of the best local youngsters were, iirc they signed all the best players from lock lane (with a cash incentive) and got some cracking players such as westerman. The amateur team you play for doesn't necessarily reflect where you come from.

Other famous Castlefordians include Nelson Mandela, Dannii Minogue and Karl Pilkington.
All are from Redhill.

Both my sons were born in Ponte (as previously stated almost everybody in Cas/Fev is nowadays) and played for amateur/pro clubs outside the town but try telling them they're not Cas lads....from a safe distance.

| The season long loan deal (with no chance of recall) has to be one of the WORST deals CT have ever done, with the benefit of hindsight.
Let's just say there is a very substantial chance Richie Owen may not even play a game this season, possibly even the couple after that. He may even end up being released in the not too distant future.
All of which will break in the next week or so, or as soon as a tabloid picks up on the story.
Until then all this IS "here-say" & I wouldn't want to get into a libelous situation. Keep an eye on the presses.

I had heard a rumour owen had been a naughty boy, fairly serious wrongdoing as well (if true)

| There was an incident- that's all I'm willing to say about anyone personally, nothing about any wrong doing from any individual or the context of the incident, but it COULD have potentially damaging consequences for an already thin CT team.
Above all else I hope nothing comes of it, our sport doesn't need anymore bad press. Especially at a time where we are struggling to find a sponsor for the elite competition.

Its not hear-say but I think you may have got it blown out of proportion a bit, and if things do go the way you think both Hull clubs could be a bit light on playing staff too. but time will tell, and to be honest I dont think letting Mathers go was a bad move as Millward doesnt seem to want to talk to him never mind put him in his squad.

That's good, since you won't have the option of picking Mathers.
