The issue with Hardaker at Wigan was that when he moved back to Ponte he was still expected to to travel on the team bud to and from games with the rest of the squad.

In one of his last games vs Trinity he pretty much refused to get on the bus back to Wigan and had to be frog marched on it.

Leigh will let him do what he wants in order to secure him.

Understand that Gale is no longer on his way to us but will be going to Toulouse. I personally thought he looked shot last season and has lost his pace. If he did still end up coming to us it would be like the Brough signing ( the last time he joined us ) in that a player whose mind is willing but whose body is past it. The player I would be looking at is Corey Norman who was at Toulouse last season, he had a great season, is tough and looks the real deal to me. Yes he has a ban to serve but I think he would be a really strong player for us. One thing is for certain is that Vasty is wrong, nothing new there I hear you cry, we cannot go into the season with Lino and Smith as our starting halves with just Gaskill as cover. Gaskill was hopeless at half back but OK cover in the centre, Jowett can cover 6 but we would look much much better with Corey Norman in the squad.

Corey Norman has gone to Lezignan I think.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Norman in a Trin shirt but he is staying in France.

Problem we have when it comes to the halves, we have both Lino and Gaskell on 100k+, which for me isn`t a great use of a limited budget, we look to have deliberately gone for a cheaper option in Smith to provide competition and cover in the halves but for what it`s worth I think Smith will be a good signing and will take number 6 for next year, I wouldn`t be expecting any further additions to the spine.

I really cant see Gaskill being on such an high wage. However if he is, then as a club we have been extremely stupid in allowing that to happen. We all know the bloke who made the bad signings, i am hoping he is now blowing Beaumonts money in the same stupid and reckless way he did with us.

I think we could do a lot worse than Norman. He could be a typical Trinity signing. Get him after he has served his ban and save a huge chunk of his annual wage. I am sure he will not be on big bucks at Lezignan either.

Gaskell overall made solid contributions in 2022. What we learned though was he isn’t a regular halfback option but more effective as a centre where he played very well.

If it’s 100k a season it’s a bit steep but I’ve never seen him give less than 100% in a game for trinity and so long as that continues he earns his money. Not that it should be public knowledge or even be discussed.

Gaskell could offer us solid options for centre and fill in cover in emergencies at FB and HB. He adds value imo. If you had asked me mid 2022 when he largely played HB I’d have been less positive but Gaskell showed up well and did a good job in that centre spot so I had a bit of a turnaround on my opinion of him.

I can’t be bothered to find it I can be bothered to listen to it. Because quite frankly I think the agent has broken the law as this is confidential info. I don’t doubt for a second he knows the figure what I doubt is he’d be stupid enough to give specifics.

I can’t imagine MC dealing with someone who did that could you. How damaging do you think that info if true could damage the teams structure. Nobody would put up with that.
