That's perfectly true but it doesn't make it right. I tend to look at it that Moore got exactly what he deserved it's just a shame those higher up with better connections and more cash don't.

I don't know Moore you probably do but I've known many a a hard case and they all seemed all right to me until you see the other side and then it's hard to reconcile the guy you thought you knew and the thug.I'm afraid the excuse of being not as bad as some others doesn't work for me and if the allegation are proved true then the guy is an utter thug and should get a custodial IMHO.

Pop Tart, my opinion is that he should not have got bail, he and all drunk drivers , drug drivers, should be locked up until court date. The total disregard for others peoples, families, children lives demands that we as a society should not allow these people on the streets.

For clarity - I was being facetious; the sad dichotomy of Moore is that he can indeed be 'class' on the pitch - but demonstrates none of it off the pitch, hence his fairly ignominious and unremarkable career, despite possessing bags of talent.

Dunno about that - I reckon the numbers of people convicted of drink/drug driving charges while on bail for the same offence will be tiny. We don't have the luxury of prison/police cell capacity to house them - save them for the rapists/murderers and real scum of this world.

I'd agree the the penalty should be higher for drink/drugged drivers. I'd happily increase it to the same as if he'd been shooting a gun near a group of people.

However, if he didn't injure anyone in the car incident, policeman apart, then he wouldn't have got a custodial, so would always be out on bail.
I'm assuming he's banned from driving aleeady.

You would be surprised just how many repeat offenders are actually out there !!

If he is, then it won't be from this incident...AFAIK he hasn't even been charged with anything yet.

As I understand the process, and I realise there are some legal bods on here who will know for sure, if he has been bailed, he has been charged.

No he is on police bail if he is charged to Court when he sppears he will be on Court bail then.

Interesting and apposite piece on the news this morning - that there are currently 10,000 motorists on UK roads, driving legally, with 12 or more points on their licence; including one chap from West Yorkshire, who has racked up 62 points, but remains legally able to drive, due to magistrates accepting the argument that losing his licence would cause 'extreme hardship.'

I guess it would cause me extreme hardship if someone with such an appalling driving record smashed into me and killed me - but hey ho.

It's good to know that when a mother is burying her toddler who was killed by a drunk driver she can console herself that it was at least done by a lesser grade of scum

You get what I mean, in terms of danger to the public - a person on bail for drink driving is far less likely to cause harm to society than a murderer or rapist etc. With Prison/Police resources stretched to the limit, we need to prioritise incarcerating them in my opinion.

Having said that anyone who drink/drug drives and hurts someone deserves everything they get.

I have come across quite a few over the past 28 years....one of my colleagues caught a drink driver in the Wakefield district only a couple of weeks ago - a middle aged working guy - and he actually said that he couldn't believe he was being arrested and then prosecuted for "just having a few beers" (I believe he was 3 times over the limit) and that he was disgusted with the police "who should be out catching the REAL criminals "
