More than we thought!



Sorry to be the bearer of a bit of bad news... but the press conference has been delayed by approx. 1 week. This is no-one's fault, but it has to be this way.

Now provisionally scheduled for the week commencing the 21st December - so a welcome Christmas present!

Which Christmas???

7th of december to 21st is more than a week.

It needed to be 'at least' 1 week - but the reason for the provisional date of the 21st is the availability of the main players.

Main players are unavailable? The coucil aside are we the only ones who cab allot an hours time for a press conference in the next 3 weeks?! Or by big players do we mean councillor Box and his ramshackle band of merry(festive pun) men...

for them at the meeting that heard the 7th mention as a date for an announcement and don't come on here are going to be a little confused,

Highways & planning agency? Forces such as this we can't control. But to be engaging with these people & finalising plans could show how far we are down the line with this. And if that's the case the club have done right by us all along in keeping quiet and getting on with it behind the scenes.

I'm reading between the lines, but i think there is more to this than we know, as TRB has hinted.

It's finding a date for our team - the Trust - that's caused the additional delay. The first part is about ensuring all the right boxes are ticked (and no that's not a euphemism.

Well, at least Sir Rodney's got more time to look after it now he's got no snooker to worry about!

No-one would have been able to repel the combination of Barry Hearn and the fact snooker is on a decline that he, seemingly, was unable to stop.

He's a very knowledgable and intelligent bloke is our Rodney - but charismatic he is not and I think that is what Snooker needs right now.

before i get slated for trolling i just want to say i am not this is a genunie question, a poster on the cas page has put on in his post that wakefield council is a hung council at the moment due to the death of a counciler a couple of weeks ago, i am just wanting to know if there is any truth in this, if anyone on here knows that is. if this is the case do you think that could be the reason for your recent delays ?

You are correct Labour had a mjority of one and a guy from airedale has died leaving it tied . Labour still remain in control due to having the most seats. this has nothing whatsover to do with the delay.

As far as the council being hung we don't need a mass hanging one person to do the 'tyburn jig' would be sufficient

Nope, from reading in between the lines the application is ready to submit, the arrangement of the press conference is the issue. Initially council leader’s were dragging their feet, in petulance it seems, and now the new date is scheduled so all bodies represented can be there.

I personally don’t the week running up to Christmas is a good time for a press release.

Whilst I’m sure it will be a nice present for the faithful, for the wider world it will go largely unnoticed. I’m unsure as to what will be in the press release, but surely, an announcement in the New Year would have more impact

It will go largely unnoticed by the wider world whenever the announcement is made, however, with RL circles it will not be lost. There will be plenty lining up to deride this landmark.

There is a timescale for the planning process and we need to get on that timetable asap imo. If we miss this date then we will be another 2/3 weeks on and the whole excercise is slipping again.

I'm genuinely not concerned about the loss of impact, nor am I concerned about the lack of vocal support from some local dignitaries - what I am concerned about is the process of getting the stadium built and bugger everything else!
