The thing about the latest news from Dickie is it highlights the hypocrisy of a section of the Cas Fan base. Everytime, there has been a delay in the NM scheme they have seized on the fact that its another nail in our coffin and the ground will never get built. However, when Dickie announces version 7.0 of how to get GH started (which proves that some of the previous statements he made were clearly untrue) because of the "spin" put on the announcement, it is taken as a further positive !!!

I have no wish to see the project fail, but it is a bit rich when certain Cas fans accuse AG of "spin" because of his statement about the possibility of sharing NM with Cas - then lap up Dickie's latest statement as gospel.

That sounds like what Wakefield Council and Peter Box did to secure Wakefield's place in Super League for the past three seasons...

Got to admit they are doing a much better job PR wise and I think it will pay off for them.

There was a sky sports article yesterday whos bold intro stated "Castleford have revealed a new deal that will ensure the building of a new stadium can go ahead as planned.".

Its becoming accepted now that its happening for them and not for us despite both clubs being in the same position.

It's amazing the amount of cr*p we have had to take over our new ground plans over the last 5 years. All along Cas have been no further forward than us. When Thornes Park fell through we had many accusations from Cas fans about misleading on our 2008 application. The reality was that TP was taken off the table because of the economic down turn, the funding just couldn't be justified in the present climate. At least we came clean at the time and got with alternative plans. Now we have Cas fans claiming that they are victims of the recession! The hypocrisy of it! The only difference is that we came clean, it's taken Cas 3 years to come clean albeit with the mother of all spins by Tricky Dickie.

It's seems all conveniently vague "A Supermarket" could mean anything I bet we never find out in there franchise application. I have to hand it to him, this is vintage king of the spin Dickie Wright!

Castleford have found out that their Glasshoughton site is unstable and the cost of rectifying this makes the build financially impossible . They have been exploring the possibility of building a stadium somewhere on the future Hicksons development infact it could even be on their present site. They have no money by the way of planning gain for the GH site, but if Hicksons development happens this could give them the planning gain they require. This announcement yesterday was the first step towards this and trickie will drip feed little bits out from now on.

Fully when I heard this I asked the same.Was told the stadium plans are transferable and the planning costs are peanuts in the grand scheme of things, quite a small price to pay to buy a franchise.

I would suggest what you've heard is idle gossip and is not true.

There are things already built up on that hillside. I think if there were any issues that these wouldn't have been built.

You have to show some kind of progress to the RFL or your franchise is down the toliet. Something that cost about 200k is well worth investing when the award is a SL status which leads to £4m of tv rights plus sponsorship! It's Dickie Wright you should get mad at, all along he must of known the funding wasn't there but religiously you followed his every word and anyone that disagreed was shot down. There's a distribution centre or something like that at the top of the existing road (that will be extended to the new stadium site) and I think there may be some offices too. Look on Google Maps.

Surely if BB payed a retainer that runs to the end of the year they have a legal right to have first refusal on the ground, otherwise why do it? Cas can't just tell them to go away. The only way to do it is that cas would have to buy them out of the agreement, something that BB would have to agree to. Whether Cas would have a spare 200K lying around to do this is questionable.

Lets clear this up. I don't know the contents of THIS deal, but typically option deals are structured like this.

BB homes pay an options fee on Wheldon Road. They basically agree a future price on the land (rumour is £6m) and put down a 'deposit payment' if you like. Now the thing is the seller (Cas) has agreed a future maximum price on the land, so this means the seller can't charge the buyer more than the agreed price (£6m). However, BB don't have to pay Cas the full amount agreed, they are still allowed to pay what the land is worth at the time of agreed final purchase. Now of course, prior to recent times, this worked well for developers and sellers alike, because the land usually rose in value meaning BB would have been happy to pay £6m because the land rose to say £7m during the option period but also the seller got some up front money and also was able to plan because he knew he was getting £6m.

The rumour is BB, quite rightly, made a revised offer (which they are fully entitled to do) which of course now is under the agreed option value! So rumour is £3m to £4m. Equally, Cas don't have to accept BB offer... they don't have to sell anything. So basically BB and Cas have parted company, possibly with Cas knowing that better things could be on the horizon. The options fee may and may not be returnable as part of the deal, so Cas have either given BB it's deposit back and BB have walked away and lost it.

I honestly couldn't care less how much money you have. What does bother me is that it seems to me that your esteemed chief executive is once again leading everyone up the garden path with big press releases that will amount to nothing. Lets be honest he hasn't got a great track record when it comes to backing up his comments has he? I wouldn't believe him if he told me today was friday and I fear this could be another of his white elephants.

Don't let it, it's no business of ours at all. Lets just concentrate on our here and now.
This is what i hate about franchises, i cant remember the last decent thread about a game/player/team we have had on here, its all crap about who's got what planning permission and whos building (or not) what first.
Bring Back P & R, smelly badly lit toilets and decent rugby, where one fan can have some banter with another without it turning into whos got the bickest dick (or who may have the biggest dick soon, possibly!!!!) competition.
Out of interest Mrs KC says i need not enter any such competition as it is pointless!
